In fairness to Stephanie somebody called donkeytugger contacts her saying 'I recently switched from Windows and now Apple wants more money from me for Logic Pro X'. There's room for confusion here no?

.
That is the biggest question mark I have and the biggest disappointment seeing EXS24 untouched. I hope it is still in the works and just not ready. WHy would they buy all that talent and technology?

Hang in there Theo.
Remember, you were NEVER going to use an iLok plugin again during the first few days of iMeltdown....

LOVE your enthusiasm :)

it looks like we're going to see further updates... hopefully sooner than later. mind the 32 to 64 bit shift...

in my case, anyway, to upgrade on my main computer is the decision of whether to change from osx 10.6.8 to 10.8 or not. still don't like 10.8's concepts, some disappearing finder functions (mini finder?) and others.

how about customized skins in LPX, possible?

I think it's a great release and the UI is beautiful.
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Logic X is a separate app to Logic 9, I have them installed side by side now.

Can't really say about the sample content. 2 GB is automatically downloaded when the app is first launched, this cannot be cancelled the app won't start without it. Not sure how much space that consumes when expanded.

There is an optional 39 GB to download. This is automatically started but can be cancelled / resumed any time (I cancelled).

Perhaps because the 39 GB content was cancelled changing drum kits / drummers seems to require a separate download, but this can also be cancelled.

Peace,
Andy.
If you don't download the new samples and presets does it use the old ones? I assume a lot of content won't have changed much if at all, just as it hasn't since Logic 7.

I was a keen Logic user for years but something happened, I switched to Ableton Live and found I could get ideas down faster. The issue I had was with Mixing, so I picked an Maudio interface with Pro Tools MP9.

Now I write, design, arrange in Live Suite 9 and export stems (with all dynamic FX off) and mix in PT MP9

The 2 hosts together have everything I coud ever want, I'm not even tempted to upgrade to PT 10/11

What I do have is hundreds of pounds of logic boxes filled with DVDs from 7 thru 9 worth nothing.

Apple, love the hardware, leave the software :-)

I'm glad that Logic X finally come out. I will buy it soon and test even if what I saw so far it's not what I expected. The GUI seems nice anyway but it will take time to get used to it I think.
Give me samples. More samples!
