I've tried it with Orbit Downloader but it didn't help...

Where I live the internet connection depends on the weather, on the wind direction and strength, and how many people are already connected...so it may last for several hours, and then, all of a sudden, it stops completely... :x
Well, at least they can send you a DVD for free :).

The need to torrent that thang!

Thanks for the heads up, koolkeys. Surprisingly my German (from O-level in 1983) was still good enough to navigate the site without translation. Couldn't find the DVD request, though... might hunt if the download fails.

Once you've registered for an account, you just visit the main page and log in.
Then navigate to "Profil" -> "Seriennummer" and at the very bottom is a button called "DVD Anfordern", which means "Request DVD".

I have no idea though if they really ship to locations outside of Germany.

I remember reading somewhere on the Net that the DVDs are available for free in selected shops, maybe that is also the case for "outside of Germany"? Possible that they "slipped a few in" when shipping some microphones around the world?
Worth a try, anyway.

Hm, I played around with it for a while, just as I thought. Not very thrilling.
It does have a continuous roll articulation that might be convenient.

But what they call a MIDI mapping for EZ Drummer and Superior Drummer has absolutely nothing to do with the truth, I have both and C1 = Kick, D1 = Snare.
It is definitely not G1 = Kick and B1 = Snare and C1 = Snare Roll, or whatever Sennheiser have phantasized together in their sleep there. Very disappointing. I'm definitely not re-arranging all my older stuff, no sir.

It's a showcase DVD for their microphones, so -of course- you can switch through many microphones per-drum -- but not alter the actual drum itself. Having two or three different kicks and snares to choose from would've made a world of a difference. Pity, that.

By far no serious competition for monsters like Superior Drummer, but certainly a nice free Pop kit for those with empty wallets.

I don't think it was meant to compete with Superior Drummer, but for what it costs it's definitely a great catch. :D

Unfortunately, yes, the mappings are not correct, other than GM mapping, so I guess that's the one to be used, then.

played a bit around with my mouse in kontakt standalone and i like it because it isn't so over-processed.
there are some fx but i think the goal was rather to show off the different mike types and that it should sound as natural as possible.

personally i've problems using already heavy processed,eg. polished library's nowadays because it's almost not possible to give them a "own sound signature".

thanks a lot and a +1 to sennheiser. :)

Agree totally.
Still, anyone who brags with an "8GB sound library" but doesn't even have 2 kicks or 4 different toms can expect some b/s-calling.

and those who brag about 3 different bass drums and 4 sets of toms but don't know how to record them can expect me to never use even one of their samples. The high quality bass drum in this sample library was recorded so well that it's more usable than at least 10 shitty bass drum recordings I can think of right now from various "well regarded" commercial sample libraries by people who don't even know how to record a bass drum.

This kit is a marketing exercise - for a start it is signing up people to their site/newsletters etc. The kit is a demo of the qualities of their equipment which they hope will get a lot of exposure out here in user land. This is a better way to do it than a bunch of demo tracks for the various mics in a flash player.

I would give them full marks for using their budget for something more useful than a few swanky photographs, some dead trees and a plague of internet adverts.

XP is no longer supported by K5 (which this is), it works, but...

No, this won't work with Kontakt 2. It requires the newer Kontakt Player format, and scripting features that weren't introduced until K5.

I'm not saying that the new Kontakt Player can't be made to run on XP, but it doesn't support XP at all. I haven't tried, but the installer may not even allow it.

So I'm guessing it's a no go.
