Naah I don't think you are missing anything. Like it was said earlier it's just a taste thing. You either like it or not. There's nothing wrong with you not liking the sound of it.
Cheers!

He knows the plugins are worth much more than he is asking for them so there is most likely a good reason why they are so cheap. Probably the dude is "donating" his expertise, time and awesome plugins for the greater good of the music producer community!
Or he is slowly but surely building a massive library of awesome plugins and counts on people getting addicted to them.. like a crack dealer he slowly but surely empties all our wallets!![]()
Instead, why not get one of his plugins that you feel like you absolutely need. Have you tried his FlX plugin? I find it remarkable!
Cheers!

Couldn't possibly agree more. Well spoken. +1

Well...I must be one of the other lone lunatics who uses it on the buss...andrelafosse wrote:I guess I'm the lone lunatic who loves ReelBus on the bus.
Not to be spammy, but I used ReelBus on the stereo mix of every tune on both albums found here:
http://andrelafosse.bandcamp.com
I compared it with and without, and totally adored what it did.
I'm not arguing with anyone who doesn't dig sound of the plugin (or the music), but I wanted to offer an honest alternative to the "ReelBus is no good on the 2-bus" line.
In fact - I have it locked into the Master Buss of my Mix Template and it sits in front of Barricade..They are normally the only 2 plugins on the MB....
I don't have any gain on RB - the audio just passes through it - and I much prefer the sound with RB in the mix than without it...
There's something homogeneous about it - like analog tape I guess...
That's what so good about all of these tools...
For whatever reasons,we all have our preferences and opinions on these things..
Life would be exceedingly boring if we all painted with the same colours
But one thing is for sure...
We are so bloody spoilt these days with all of the choices available....
Many people seem to think that all of these synths and effects are going to be the saviour of their music, when their focus should really be on the creative process and the quality of the music...
So much of the "music" created these days is dead boring because the focus is on the tools rather than on the music itself...
Get the music right to start with and then tweak the sounds and add a few FX...
Putting the cart before the horse makes it very hard work for the horse...

That's bullshit man. Words don't mean a thing around here.TheoM wrote:As far as before and afters, no interest, I don't even have it installed.
Isn't that what tape is supposed to do?TheoM wrote:To describe what I don't like about it would simply be that the way it distorts mushes transients and makes everything sound like a squashed mess to me which I don't like..

Sounds exactly what my actual cassette deck does with bad quality or worn out cassettes and too hot levels. Or educational VHS from the eighties ie. worse than cassette quality.
Excellent example, an "instagram filter" or sorts. You can really hear the tape travel. The only thing missing is the *clunk* of the buttons and the motor.

This thread made me want to try Reelbuss for myself (what a novel idea!) and
I have to say, I quite like what it does.........
Bought it and Barricade and am more than happy with both.

I don't know how you managed to make Realbus sound that bad. Works a lot better if you give it 'analog' levels. I'm using it on an album master this week.

Reelbuss is a great sounding plugin...
When people complain about it,I think they have a fundamental misunderstanding regarding it's function...
Also,at least one of the naysayers has admitted to having funky ears
I really appreciate the tube and tape emulations available these days...
I used to run the mixes through a HQ analog console, but we're getting so close with these emulations and they require less maintenance, they are more compact and they are more efficient too

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.
