Because it looks and feels like Garageband with childish cutesy Kyle the drummer for children and low and behold they added an Arpeggiator and midi plugs ...Wow, Just like everything else has had for about a decade. If you turn off Advanced features it turns into Garageband with wood panels and all.

seems pretty deep to me. you CAN use drummer, apple loops etc...not a stretch from logic 9 in reality. but you don't HAVE to use those things.

otherwise, it's like L9 on steroids; more options, tools. and it FEELS good to work on; am not missing 9 at all.

I'm not sure about "Logic 9 on steroids" as other than midi plugs ,flex pitch and stacks/groups it is just the same old logic. Same engine, same plugs, same midi engine and the same AU, Au still can't send midi to the outside world?. It's just grey with garageband graphics and yes I know some people don't like it being referred to as Garageband but it looks just like Garageband and it seems to me that Apple care more about adopting Garageband users than Protools users, Hence the price and "look mom no hands" features.

Good God man... stop calling it Garage Band. God forbid a company unifies the way their production line looks... The lower price is because there is ZERO physical distribution on this release. It's all download only. It has every feature that Logic Pro 9 had. I'm not sure how a new UI suddenly makes it dumbed down to GB level...

And at the end of the day, why should Apple care about PT users? What large studio is gonna switch to Logic? They are all tied to PT because it's the "standard." No matter how lame PT is, we can't just magically change that with a new Logic release.

If you go to the preferences and turn off advanced features then wood panels appear and it becomes Garageband, It is Garageband and logic 9 together. Hence "Garageband Pro". You may not like it but it is Garageband Pro.

whatever. am happy, am back to work. and loving the new stuff (track stacks alone is making the arrange window a joy to work in...)

Track stacks is a great organizer, and it was really the only thing I missed about using Sonar when I moved to Logic.

Agreed. While I didn't really "move" to Logic (I still use Sonar), Logic 9's track folders were just annoying and useless compared to Sonar's. LX's track stacks go beyond Sonar's.

After 4 years we get Garageband and Logic 9. You would think that after 4 years we would get a better sound engine that didn't push everything onto one core when record enabled (still does it ,They just removed the 32bit limitation) or an upgraded AU protocol to allow more advance instruments and midi out(yeah 2013 and no midi out in AU) or better sounding eq's or compressors that didn't sound like it converted the input to 16bit. Yes I don't the gui as it just " lipstick on a donkey".

Then don't use LX. Why are you whining about it? I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I've been reading Garageband Pro all freaking day and I'm def not the only guy sick of it.

Yeah, it's annoying and a bit pointless. It also ignores that Garageband has some good features, and there is nothing wrong with bringing these over to Logic.

Very simple concept - anything that makes creating music easier is a win. None of the power of earlier versions of Logic has been removed, so it's there if you need it.

Anybody got Bidule working in Logic X. It validates but when initiating the plugin - no Bidule! I have the 64bit versions going.
