No, I'm not too lazy.
i didn't imply it
i have just listed tools, which make life easier. visit the devs websites/youtube to get familiar with their capabilities.
Maybe my previous posts weren't clear. I don't have Komplete, Massive, nor FM8.
/quote]
that was all clear. what i was saying that massive and fm8 are packaged in komplete so there's no need to buy them on top of komplete.

to replace massive you could maybe load custom wavetables into synthmaster CM or BE (I'm doing it with the full version so not sure the mag versions can do it too). U could download the Adventure Kid's one (do a search on google), 3000+ waveforms and some really nasty
download every FREE bitcrushers, distortions, vowel/formant filters u can find on the internet (do a KVR search for a starter) in order to have different flavors at your disposal.
Using multiband distortion could be a good idea too (as someone suggested before ^^). Use multiband compression/saturators/enhancers and EQing to beef your basses up. You was shock or Xfer OTT works wonders.
use ducking for kick and snare, use either volume or EQ automation with envelope follower if your DAW allows it or uses free sidechaining compressors.
To replace FM8/Sytrus for free, Odo's DoubleSix synth is very capable, can growl ^^
Hope this can help ^^
Free bass enhancers could also help you to achieve big loud basses (beware of not overdoing it ^^)
CurveBE/CM is of course a great recommendation too, DuneBE is nice with his mod matrix but I'm not sure its sound is harsh enough, but could be nice for pads, leads and so on. Atlantis is great too with powerful filters and a bunch of distortions available. Atlantis filter FX can transform a dumb sound into a crazy uncontrollable nasty distorded bass

Thanks again. I hear how this has potential. Now, I just need to figure out the right effects arrangment. Does anyone know?nineofkings wrote:FM four.
Thanks. Do you know which videos cover freeware. I just saw commercial software. I also saw yet another suggestion for Abelton. I'm hoping to use Tracktion.thecontrolcentre wrote:Check out dubspot's youtube channel. Lots of dubstep "how to" tutorials.
Thanks. I have 2.0 and 3.03. For some reason, they didn't come to mind while I was experimenting. Do you know how to get that "in your face" saw sound out of them?chokehold wrote:TAL Noisemaker. Totally rocks for free!
I've been trying nasty samples. They are a great starting point. I've made one, but it required stretching, so it can't be played as a synth.Davias wrote:waveforms and some really nasty
Thanks, but I already did that. I have huge pile of FSU. I just need to know how people are hooking them up and using them to get those sounds and behaviors.Davias wrote:download every FREE bitcrushers, distortions, vowel/formant filters u can find on the internet
I have been enhancing the bass and using multiband compressors. Flanging is good as well. I hadn't been getting results with distortion until I tried bandisto. I also don't like the results I get with ducking.
I have not tried DoubleSix or the Atlantis FX. Thanks for the suggestions.

I was more talking about single-cycles waveforms than the longer samples. the waveform is like an oscillator. With synthmaster wavescaning you can then cycle through differents waveform and achieve evolving growl without even using distortion ^^androidlove wrote:I've been trying nasty samples. To use a longer sample as an instrument you should use a synth capable of resynthesis but sadly I don't know a free one

On the topic of multiband distortions, this is the poor man's Ohmecide... really good sound and heaps of distortion algo options. I personally use one of the saturation algos on the bass freqs (set gain to taste) and the sinus for the highs:

PS: On the mids usually just level it out with the gain and don't add any distortion.

I have some single cycle wave forms. I've been using the longer samples to get the "LFO" to speed up as the pitch increases. I'm calling it LFO because it's a similar effect. I've been using Zamp to quickly find sweet spots to loop.Davias wrote:I was more talking about single-cycles waveforms than the longer samples.
I should play with Sample Tank's Stretch and PS/TS. I should also see what I can get out of slicing things up in HighLife.
I while back, I had a save disabled resynthesis demo vst. I think it was Morphine. I could never get anything out of it I liked.

This is a tutorial for Operator in Live, but the technique applies to any FM synth (probably).

Here's a test using what I've learned from this thread. You'll have to right click the link and open it. MediaFire doesn't work with KVR.
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/v4cfad8 ... port_1.mp3
The bass is FM4>IIEQ Pro CM automated>Camel Crusher>Bandisto.
The drums are samples.
YOU WA SHOCK! is on the master bus.
Here's the best I'd come up with prior. It seems that once you've opened the page, you'll have to hit pause and then play to get it to start.

Itchy's WONKEY with Forma and Filter Cont 2 make the bass. I really like the freedom I have with the LFO in WONKEY.
Mars 1 is used for the arpeggio.
Itchy's SEISMIK goes into Flaser for the singing lead.
Kick Lab makes the drop.
Bionic delay kicks in at the drop.
Critical Mass is used for the pad/lead.
It all goes through YOU WA SHOCK!.
However, I am nowhere close to these beautiful sounds.

Oh, hey. I was stating that I wasn't looking for an automatic solution. I'm looking for some instructions on how to hook things up and automate them.bronxsound wrote:i didn't imply iti have just listed tools, which make life easier. visit the devs websites/youtube to get familiar with their capabilities.

Also, you're suggesting things that aren't free.
The Massive + FM8 and Komplete price comparison was about the 2 plugs being about the same price as the huge bundle. I was just subtly remarking that you get a lot for that extra $40.00.

Synth 1 has a dubstep preset pack floating around. It can do the wobble bass alright. Itchy's synths are hosted here: http://rapidshare.com/files/238615892/I ... -TOTAL.rar

It's pathetic how you came in here just to be insulting and to say, "LFO". You are of no help and a detriment to KVR's reputation. I have been and still am embarrassed for you.Kriminal wrote:Any synth with an lfo can make that pathetic noise....
Isnt dubstep over....havent the kids moved on to something else thats equally dull?

...and you're telling me because?
If you read my reply you will see im not talking to you, just pointing out the obvious to another poster.
That sound is one of the easiest to make, if you cannot figure it out after all the threads here about it, maybe its time to give up.
