That's pretty bad if you have paid around £400
The RRP is $599 which converts to £336 so thoretically stores should be knocking them out maybe
a little less than that .

Yes I saw Dolphin music have it marked up @ £399
= $710

maybe pre-release pre-orders are marked up to sting
you if they know you are gagging for it and no one
else has them available to order
Actually, it's just VAT. $599+17.5%=£400 at the moment. No need to lynch dolphins this week. Getting a rope around their neck is a bugger, anyway.

Hey alpi , thanks for that link , interesting :P

I see Squids tried it and likes the key action ,
a good endorsment from a very talented player who knows their keyboards :P
I've tried it. The action is pretty darn good. Not super-weighted feeling which makes it probably easier to play for most people. I generally prefer a bit more weight like the Yamaha keyboards have although I like this too. But, you also can't beat the price of this one. Plus you have all of the sliders and knobs too. It's a nice axe.
:P
The world was not given to you by your parents it is on loan from your children, respect !!!

I don't have any controller at the moment and would like to get one. Is something like this good as your only controller or would it be good to also have a synth action non-weighted keyboard as well?

Aside from using a weighted keyboard for playing piano, is there a reason for using a weighted keyboard for other things.

From what I read in that musicplayer link, someone said it doesn't have any aftertouch at all...dissapointing. Oh well... :?

no AFETERTOUCH!!!!!!! WTF
that is the horses ass!

its still not here.

still waiting.

they said may 24.
now they say.. wait a few weeks.

I WANT MINE TOO :x  :x   :help:

Rhinocort, that's what you need.

Doesn't work in Sonar, though...

On another note, it would be hard for me to justify a controller at that price range that doesn't have at least channel aftertouch.

Is there a similar controller in that price range that does have aftertouch? I haven't been able to find one.

Not exactly in that range, but the Studiologic SL880 Pro 88-key has channel aftertouch and both pitch and mod wheels, going for $599 at Musician's Friend (doesn't have all the ginchy MIDI sliders, knobs and buttons the M-Audio does, though, if that's important to you too).

On the other hand, the Studiologic VMK-88 does have a bunch of MIDI sliders, buttons and knobs, has aftertouch, has a pitch wheel (positioned horizontally, tho) but no mod wheel, semi-weighted keys and goes for $549 at Musician's Friend.

So, feature trade-offs all around between the M-Audio and Studiologic, it seems, depending on prices....hmmm....

Post

Well if you think about it, a weighted keyboard action shouldn't really have aftertouch - after all an acoustic piano has no aftertouch. If aftertouch is important to you, then i suggest a semi/non-weighted keyboard.
