Has anyone tested jbridge to see if their 32bit VSTs work in Logic Pro X with it?

it aims to make it possible to run 32bit bit VST plugins in 64 bit VST hosts and vice-versa, as well as do 32bit to 32bit bridging

What makes you think you can use LPX for this purpose? I don't expect LPX to be any different to LP8/LP9 in terms of loading all songs - namely, LP8, LP9 and LPX all *officially* load LP5 songs and later.

However, in practice, the loading of LP5 & LP6 songs is variable - sometimes it's fine, other times they can't be loaded and you are asked to convert them with Logic 7 first.

I don't expect LPX to be any different to LP8 or LP9 in this regard, so buying it just for that purpose seems a bit silly. No need to keep a G4 around though, just keep a UB version of Logic (ideally 7.2.x) on your Intel machine, it should still work, at least to convert songs. If you are really tidy you could install it on a Snow Leopard VM or something.

Sadly I was never able to open any song older than L7 format. Never.. Also, I tried to install a L7 on my Macbook pro and even after uninstalling version 9 kept prompting an error saying a newer version was installed.. Having it on a G4 I just kept it there after a morning had been lost with no luck..

Without wishing to stir the pot, the first thing I thought when I opened it was how 'GarageBand' it looked!..... Anyway, IMHO that's a good thing, nice clear GUI and still all the power I remember. ES2's a little tired now, though, still sounds great.

Ultrabeat seems to have far fewer kits than I recall, but otherwise it's good to be back.

I don't understand the complaints about the lack of an upgrade price. Some people rather spent $500 or more on a DAW initially and then $149 on an upgrade than paying $199 each time?

When comparing the price above it would take 6 upgrades of each before you would spend the same amount of money on Logic (buying it complete each time) compared to Cubase initially and upgrading it each time.

Live Suite for example is even more expensive initially and the Suite upgrade is $199 as well, so you'll never catch up to Logic on the amount of money spent with upgrades.

Logic is not my main DAW, but I think you're getting a heck of a bang for the buck and I simply don't understand why some people refuse to buy it because of the lack of an upgrade price or complain about it.

Just my 2 cents.

Not everyone bought their first ver of Logic at $200. L7 was a $1k package, L8 was $500, L9 package was also $500 until they move over to L9 only for $200.

You can debate whether it's worth $200 or not, but let's not pretend it had always been a $200 deal.

I would have purchased it already if it didn't ^$&% cost as much almost as the price you pay to crossgrade to another DAW!

The only complaint i had the other day was that i only moved to a mac 2 months ago and purchased Logic 9 then this version dropped out of nowhere so i had to fork another £139 2 months later however when i sat back and thought about it i worked out that i was getting a hell of a lot for my x2 £139 and this version does it for me.

When i pay £500 for a DAW that crashes on exit then i'm glad i made the switch cause i haven't had one crash yet with this. Well worth the money for what your getting IMO but then i'm new to this software

Ken, I don't care much for this upgrade/buy thing and I agree with you about the fact that LX is really a good bang for the buck at this price.
Probably people complain because after spending a lot in the past years on upgrades they are put on the same level of a new user (money thinking). I see it as a tool for my work so I don't care but I can understand the feeling.

What I think about the GUI is that people that used garageband in the past don't feel a real new version on LX. I never used it so to me it will be a complete new experience psychologically speaking

No it isn't. there were more concrete new features from L8 to L9 and upgrade price was $149 & include mainstage and other stuff.

It is fair, but not great compare to previous version.

I do agree Ableton upgrade price is ludicrous, but then again they seem to at least care a bit more about the users, and including M4L in v9 was a good deal for me.
