I often wonder that too when I hear that.

Bitwig are back to responding on their facebook page to reasonable questions and posts (and even some not!) if you wanted to know something specifically about it.

Latest update from them: "No real news, taking care of bugs to finish it." and "If there are news, we will keep you up to date, for sure! In the meantime just ask if you have questions!"

So sounds fairly close to finish.. but, of course, they are staying quiet on the actual release date. My guess is they will pull an Apple and release it like Logic Pro X on some 'random' day, seemingly out of the blue to everyone (but I'm back to thinking Septemberish as latest).

@reply from other now NOT host thread because of 5 overly influential people:

No, I'm not interested other than I cruise KVR and used to be interested in the lolz. As far as I'm concerned bitwig is:

-not available, don't know when..if ever
-will be expensive, I'll bank on that
-isn't going to be developed at any rapid pace (I'll bank on that too)
-doesn't do anything I can't do in my current hosts
-don't like the attitude of the company (though that isn't uncommon for the area)

Until it's released, you can enjoy my not being in these threads. It's a dead horse. When it's released, I'll have something to say.

MEOW!!!!!!

Once they actually release it we'll be able to better judge it's relative advantages and disadvantages.
Totally agree to that. In theory each unreleased software is perfect but problems will arrive soon enough after been released.

For a complex software like a DAW/host each discussion without actually having used it seems to be quite pointless.

Concerning workflow one work for you and others do not work. Personally i had found that Ableton Live is what works best for myself so far. Have tested demo version of several other hosts too and in some of them even simple things could be quite difficult to do.

As i upgraded to Live 9 Suite this year i am not interested to change to another host soon anyway.

deadline can be a good thing sometimes. on the other side it isn't good if customers feel like beta testers. maybe bitwig better not had advert anything at that early stage. its difficult but this betaphase is really to long for 99% of the potential users.

So when it's released we'll find out that it farts, burps and has zits on its ass... :hihi:

Don't you worry, as soon as it's released you'll still all be over it like flies over cow dung.

I still don't think they should have called it "beta" when they were still finishing and adding so many features. But I don't think it's bad to be patient and make it a proper release with as little bugs as possible. I think that's a good attitude. They had me at proper PDC and plug-in sandboxing. ;) All I'm waiting to find out is how they're handling drum rack sends and macros. In Ableton Live, each device rack in a drum pad can map it's macros to it's sends, which is huge. So using you can make your default drum pad device something with send macros, thus having easy access on something like Push. I'd be hard pressed to leave that for Bitwig if it didn't have it.

Now that I have Push, I am much less likely to switch to Bitwig. Push is fantastic!
