The only complaint i had the other day was that i only moved to a mac 2 months ago and purchased Logic 9 then this version dropped out of nowhere so i had to fork another £139 2 months later however when i sat back and thought about it i worked out that i was getting a hell of a lot for my x2 £139 and this version does it for me.

When i pay £500 for a DAW that crashes on exit then i'm glad i made the switch cause i haven't had one crash yet with this. Well worth the money for what your getting IMO but then i'm new to this software :-)

I think your case is a totally valid complaint, I agree!
Thanks mate i'm not complaining any more though i'm actually quite at home with LPX but got a lot to learn.. much to learn :-)

No it isn't. there were more concrete new features from L8 to L9 and upgrade price was $149 & include mainstage and other stuff.

It is fair, but not great compare to previous version.

I do agree Ableton upgrade price is ludicrous, but then again they seem to at least care a bit more about the users, and including M4L in v9 was a good deal for me.

But there are so many companies that offer sales. If I were to get mad about this then I wouldn't be making any music. I bought the Waves Platinum for $1600, paid WUP throughout the years and they recently offered it for $999 new. That's their choice. I got a lot of use out of it rather than being mad why some people would save more money getting it new. I don't know, I just see it differently I guess. It's all good. I am extremely impressed with what you get for $199, and it doesn't face me at all if they come out next year (yeah right) with Logic 11 and I would have to pay the same amount for the upgrade than someone else who just purchased it. Heck, I did since I've owned Logic since version 8 and it still doesn't bother me that there is no upgrade price...

It sure is deep. For the price i paid even twice i might only get a couple or even one soft synth. I'm getting a fully fledged tried and tested daw here for peanuts. I'm happy to pay that £139 every couple of years if i like something.

Iv'e tried a lot of daws, i had cubase for years and recently studio one but this is the one for me. Anyways it's whatever suits you what counts :-)

Has anyone noticed weird behaviour with moving channels around in the Environment window?

If I open a large session of Audio, Instrument, Bus and Aux channels and then try to re-arrange the channels - the selected channel gets shifted to the extreme right of the Environment window creating a huge space between that channel and the rest - really odd...

I'm surprised there seems to no mention of these instruments... They are listed on one of the Apple's Logic web pages, but not the other. Anyone tried them? I assume they are new to X, but I'm still on 8 so I'm not sure.

I don't know because I don't have LPX, but I assumed these were not new instruments, but just new "smart control" front ends for existing instruments.

yes, those are the smart controls for (mostly) pre-existing instruments. there ARE some new ones ("retro synth"), and new sounds, new loops....

Here we go again. Logic, Garageband and Main Stage share similar components, ideas, workflows and GUI elements. ANd you are right, that is a good thing and not like some people try to trash-talk Logic in to this GarageBand Pro bs.

Yes you can turn off Advance mode and you get the GarageBand wood panel. I think of that more of a funny ("holding hands") gesture for GarageBand user who upgrade to LPX. Arrange window, Mixer window, Tracks and so on are completely different from GarageBand with a completely different philosophy and workflow.

The Live 9 Suite upgrade is $199 if you own Live 8 and M4L. Regardless the upgrade is as much as Logic X. I think Logic X is an amazing offering at this price.

So can anyone of you guys that have been using Logic Pro X more in depth for a few days answer these questions for me?


1. Does Logic Pro X finally have midi out support for AU plugins?

2. Does the arpeggiator support midi out so you can record the midi pattern to a track?
