So what does the license agreement say with regards to using Phalanx in commercial productions?

I was gonna copy and paste here but then again who knows it says can't copy nothing, s0...

What you do is, just download one of the update files from the links in this thread and start installing, when you come to next screen where you need to accept, you'll see the license agreement ;)

then you can cancell the install

by the way of course you can use it in commercial productions, why not?

Common sense would make it seem like a ludicrous question, but sometime you can't make up this crazy stuff.

I dont see a away to decrease the maximum number of voices per pad (as it says you can do in the manual through the systems menu),
it only says, that you should decrease the number of midi notes, you send into Phalanx to lower the CPU
But however, its planned, that we add a polyphonic decraser, where not you have to lower the notes, but Phalanx will cut away the oldest notes / release tails, to save a bit of CPU.

(ps: what takes noticeable CPU are the big FX, like Reverb etc)

Well, with all the changes to the licensing of Vengeance sample libraries in the past (i.e. no melodies/melodic loops/compositions (construction kits?)/vocals, but one shots are ok, etc,) I had to ask. This will be a key factor if I purchase it or not!

And the license on the updater/installer mentions nothing about sample use. It's just the license for the software, itself. i.e. no disassembly, no bypassing the elicenser, no use over LAN by multiple people, etc..

yes you can use the whole Phalanx library without any restrictions

apparently 1.05 is out. Not sure what the changes are yet though.

Just opened Cubase and Phalanx auto updated (notified me, and let me download the update to my desktop) which is a really cool feature

how come when i hit C1 on my keyboard phalanx is registering it as C0? if i draw midi notes in on the piano roll in Logic, and i put a note on C1 and tell phalanx that my first pad needs to be C1. then when i push play, it doesn't work because it's registering C1 as C0?

Post

for example. here's a picture to show you what i'm talking about. the pad note is supposed to be C1 so i have my midi notes on C1. I the push play and phalanx is registering those notes as C0 for some reason so i get no sound. what the heck?

hello skltr21,

i just purchased phalanx earlier today and haven't had much time with it yet, but i did watch all the tutorials ;-) try going to the system tab in phalanx and look for "Incoming Midi Transpose" this will hopefully do the trick.

Post

yeah i've tried that. it doesn't work. everything is always being registered by phalanx as one octave lower than it should be. if i transpose it up or down or whatever, it's still always off by an octave.......

Post

Yes, you are right about everything playing transposed by one octave, I didn't pay too much attention at the time, but I used for example the GM drum kit and the drums didn't work, I've transposed the MIDI notes of drums one octave up - having the kick drum on C2 so it can play correctly in Phalanx - the kick on C1 as per MIDI standards.
I also noted the same with lead or bass patches too, for example: I play middle C(C3) on midi keyboard but it shows as C2, I mean it is not a big deal but it is annoying and have to remember all the time to transpose...

Post

every keyoard or daw has its own octave numbers... a C1 in Cubase is different to a C1 in FL for example

in Phalanx, just go to the system tab and set global midi transpose to +12 or whatever you need.
you have to do this just one time, since its a global paramter

Personally, I dont like to have C1 on the lowest possible note on my midi keyboard. I like to have at least 1 or 2 octaves room on the bottom before the drumkit starts.

Post

doing that does not fix the problem. when i put a note on my piano roll at C2 phalanx reads that one octave lower every time. it reads it as C1. if i transpose +12 it now plays my midi note as C3 but reads it as C2. it's always one octave off. phalanx is the ONLY plugin i have that has this problem. why? no other plugin has a problem reading my midi correctly.
