Just use whatever floats your boat.. personally i haven't run in to any problems with LPX it just does what i want it to do.. as long as my Virus and stuff work iv'e no need for fancy features. LPX is a great daw imo and i'll be sticking with it.

I never really got a hard on with other daws although i do like Studio One on occassions.

Sysex is a dated specification, but there are freeware apps that can handle it for you.
Most of us work in 2013, not 1993, with old romplers.

A question on my own: Does LPX allow for MIDI selection on AU effect inserts/sends? Or does one still have to create an Instrument Track for an AU effect to receive MIDI?

I will sign that petition. Nothing is perfect, but the whole AU and midi out discussion has been going on for years.
Still nothing being done about it. Easy routing and resampling should not need a visit to the environment. Welcome to the future.

It is for me. And nothing has been done to satisfy me and others that want this.
I guess LPX is still for people like you, who are stuck in 90's production. That is fine. You already have everything you need and want. But I don't. I guess Ableton is for people like me. No problem. I rather support new thinkers and people with vision anyway.

Look around most recent hardware forums and you will find plenty of people bitching about the lack of sysex in Ableton Live. That's recent hardware too, not old gear.

I use both Logic and Live, which one depends on what I want to achieve. All I'm doing is pointing out that all hosts have strengths and weaknesses. Use whatever you need to get the job done, instead of whining about what other hosts can or can't do.

I'm from the 90's era.. had no problems then.. only you young pups came along and screwed up the genres mixing house with trance and all that crap and ended up with that shitty wobble wobble stuff.. check beatport it's full of that crap.. long live the 90's

That is not where I come from, but, I do move on and don't get stale, and I am openminded to new ways to work to stay very creative.
It's frustrating that some developers aren't listening to some of us.

Besides, rob_lee, don't you make patches for those genres for various synths, and make money from it?

Yes i'm a total hypocrite here.. BUT you won't hear wobble wobble, trance sure but old skool stuff.. besides i'm retiring i close on 1st September lol

No. I think I had a valid reason to be.

Ableton is for creative people that want to be able to get their ideas down fast. It's also specifically made for modern electronic musicians. LPX is pretending to be for all of us.

I love Ambient music believe it or not, oh yes this kind of Spacey stuff is so nice i'm gonna attempt a few tracks in the new year. Sign of old age i guess but i think i'm done with all that BOOM BOOM four to the floor stuff. Leave that to the younger generation

Anyone know of some good Ambient sites? I usually just log on to iTunes radio some nice stuff there.

It's cool. Nobody listens to 4/4 music 24/7.

I also agree with you that club music from the late 80' and the 90's had soul and variation. Not much of that today, unfortunately.
