Some of those problems seemed to be based on the updates to OSX and if i noticed correctly using Logic X also needs an update to the latest OS. This would be like Windows 8 is necessary to work with Live 9 which is not the case.
I'm wondering if you're thinking of some OS X updates independent of Logic that have been a source of problems for VST/AU stuff ... IIRC Snow Leopard in particular. Generally problems clustered around defunct products or disorganized companies that can't maintain code ... kind of a natural life-cycle thing. Good developers survived. So I tend to think this is more the pros and cons of OS X rather than Logic in particular (which I don't use but seems like a perfectly legitimate choice of DAW).

Should I defend myself more, and answer back on non LPX things, or can it go back to LPX now?
You should ask yourself that question...

Well, here you are, having issues with someone saying 'all hosts have good and bad points'.

Ableton Live can't handle sysex, which I need for hardware synths. Unbelievable that a Pro sequencer in 2013 can't do the basic things I need to create music ;)

Peace,

It's party comments like this that prevent things from going forward. What you don't understand you make fun of. What category of people do you belong to?
If you lack imagination, and vision, you might as well give up.

So I have no right to defend myself from anyone?
There's no attack in what he said, so why exactly would you need to defend yourself in the first place, let alone by being insulting?

Oh wait, is it because you just dont like other people having opinions?
I have issues
Yup.
with people that can't seem to handle criticising Logic or understand what I brought up is important
its merely a metter of opinion as to whether what you think is important actually is.
Its obvious, though that you'll attack someone for having the opinion that it its not.
, and instead call people like me who want certain features or improvement names.
ZenPunkhippy didnt call you names. You resorted to insults, not him.
Something negative I can't remember now.
No, that's you rationalising your unprovoked attack on him. He gave an opinion, and you attacked him for it. And now you're pretending that it was the other way around.
It doesnt really matter what you remember, though, because its easy to see what you did; I just quoted it. And it doesnt confirm to your pretence.

And what did he say that I reacted on. If you are going to copy and paste, make sure you get it all, ok?
Yes, I posted that, and what he said. Confirms you attacked first.

Really?
I see that as an attack as i just mentioned something. Then puberal and what not was posted because of that. Yeah. I started it...
You also like to copy and paste out of context. Have fun with that. I'm sure he needs your help too.
I will just ignore you now, is that ok?

How? By stating a differing opinion in exactly the same manner as you stated yours?

No, that doesnt fly.

You didnt like his opinion, and you started attacking him for it.
You also like to copy and paste out of context.
No, I like to cut and paste in context. Anyone can check that for themselves. But when they do, it'll be clear you're a hypocrite, and a liar.

On topic:

How is everyone liking the new midi fx plugins in LPX? I'm quite liking the LFO tool myself. Pretty useful. Gonna dive in to that scripting thing tomorrow and see what that's all about :-)

Post

I like them. I have just tried LPX on a friends computer, but they are an improvement.
Does the capture feature in the arp function any different depending on the settings you use with Live etc?

How much does it capture and how can you customise it?

I haven't had a chance to use the scripting plugin and not sure I'll get much use out of it anyway since writing script is not my forte, but some of the other plugins are really cool, particularly the arp and the LFO tool. I wish I could buy that arp as a standalone plugin for my other DAWs. It's simple on the surface, but has just the right amount of depth and usability to it.

Haven't been much in to the arp yet mate i'm mostly still playing with the flex time thing and the lfo tool on the midi. I'll tell you more tomorrow when iv'e tested it out properly though. I'm not sure but the old plugins like compressors etc look a tad blurry to my eyes but the daw itself looks great. Not sure if this is all geared for retina mbp's or not. Might just be my old eyes though :-)

I appreciate you taking the time to check the arp more for me. I don't have access to LPX other then at my friends studio.

I noticed that. Only the new plugins seem to have high res support. Hopefully they are working harder and faster on LPX then they did on LP9.

Don't mind helping anyone mate. Sure i'll test things out as i go and report back about the Arp etc. I may be wrong about the plugins being a bit blurred but maybe someone else can verify. As i say it might just be my old eyes.

I really like the layout though and the colors. Would be good to have choices like DP8 for instance as i think they are just amazing.

They must be working on the older plugins and instruments. Many friends were a bit shocked that the old plugins are the same, especially the ES1, ES2, EXS24, UltraBeat. Some of them only need a new look, but i wonder what they are planning for the EXS24?

They will probably not add any themes as they are very conservative. I just remembered that you can't edit the track colour, or the audio file waveform in the audio editor. It would be nice to have options to change those, and the background colour in the arrange and editors.

Post

Guys, please stop the pointless argument, I actually want to talk about Logic X's features and bugs. It's always good to have someone else either confirm the bugs, or tell me I'm doing something wrong (both of which are good things). That's what I want to use this topic for, and I hope you will too.

So, here are a couple of (possible) bugs. These used to work just fine in Logic 9.

1. In Arrange, select a single MIDI or audio region on a track with multiple regions. Go to another screenset and come back (or just refresh the first screenset). Now all regions on that track are selected, as if you had just made that track active.

2. If you have an Arrange & Piano Roll windows open in the same screenset, selecting a MIDI region in Arrange shows the contents of the selected region in Piano Roll, as it should. But having them in different screensets breaks the connection. The selected region is visible in Piano Roll, but you need to manually scroll to its location. (This thing alone makes LX in its current state pretty useless for me.)

3. Waves SSLChannel & SSLGChannel plugins usually look like this when you open them. Switching to Controls and back to Editor fixes the problem, until you open the plugin window again.
