I just have received an old smartphone from my girlfriend's sister that she is not using anymore.

So, is it there any free app for Android to make beats and melodies that works in HTC Wildfire?
Kind of FL Studio sequencer.

I have tried to download Caustic and GrooveMixer, but these are not showing in my Play Store. Dunno why though, because i do know nothing about smartphones. Total newbie on this.
I would like to save all the ideas coming to my head while i'm in the field, mountain, beach, etc.

Do you know of any?
I'm also opened to any other musical suggestion for music apps.

Thanks in advance and have a nice day :)

Pixitracker free is fun but limited.

xpiano is a great free piano.

MilkyTracker is amazing for free, a little glitchy though.

There's lots of one track midi notation arrangers, too.

Edit:

Oh! The SoundCloud app too! Every KVRer should know about that.

Songmemo too

Thanks, i will try those.
I tried install Soundcloud this morning, but the screen gets black so i can't do much more.
But i think it works in the internet browser, so not a big problem.

Any other suggestions? :)

Thanks again :)

SongMemo looks like a pocket 4track recorder. Theres a really good daw that almost ran on my phone but was a tad bit too slow. Free, cant recal the name.

Force close the soundcloud app and try again if you need it.

Palmidi lite is a multitrak piano roll! Downloading...

Midsequer is better, actually. Sorry for the haphazard posting...

MidSequer is the winner here. Uncrippled midi piano roll editor with a full midi instrument selection to choose from. :)

What's the actual problem in downloading them?

Google play filters by device capability...

Or more likely the OS version? I can't imagine what special "device capability" is needed for Caustic. A headphone jack? 10 MB free storage space?

The HTC Wildfire uses Android v2.1 by default, and that is also the minimum requirement for Caustic2.

[edit]Oh, I see now. Caustic requires a screen resolution of at least 800x480, while the HTC Wildfire offers only 240x320. :dog:

Yes your phone are on the limit to be usable...
But think that you can upgrade your device to Android 2.3 and then you should spend at least a little bit of money-
The ones for your phone that I would recommend is SunVox- but be prepared for a learning curve but you can also get it for PC and start learning on a bigger screen first - PC/MAC/Linux version being for free...
Pixitracker as somebody else mentioned...
But if these do not want to run on your phone there is one application that will run on telephones going as low as Android 1.6- and that is the great Nanoloop!
2 euros but totally worth it- Pretty flexible synthesizer six sequencer tracks and can also be used for short samples...
or another one that is more of a drum machine but with a healthy dose of possibilities is Electrum Drum Machine- You can load your own samples so just this makes possible to do serious work and that should work on your phone...Try the Demo first.
Remember that a lot of apps comes in demo version so it is easy to try them first because sometimes they do not work even if they are supposed to- FL Studio Mobile is supposed to work on my HTC Wildfire S but it is impossible to use it as the phone is too slow...
But SunVox works perfectly and Nanoloop to.

Actually the market can't really filter that well based on screen size (not without excluding tons of compatible phones) so I don't actually have screen size filters, just recommended specs. The main one that filters out the WildFire is processor class. It's a 500MHz ARMv6, it's fairly "old" tech.

I've also had more "my microphone records garbage / doesn't work when I plug in headphones" bugs with that phone that all other bugs on all other phones combined. Other audio devs I've spoken to have similar stories. Apparently some have WildFire-specific workarounds. At one point I just excluded it from my app listings as it wasn't worth the support. :(

Plus, Caustic isn't really free so I don't meet OP's criteria anyway :P
