Guys, please stop the pointless argument, I actually want to talk about Logic X's features and bugs. It's always good to have someone else either confirm the bugs, or tell me I'm doing something wrong (both of which are good things). That's what I want to use this topic for, and I hope you will too.

So, here are a couple of (possible) bugs. These used to work just fine in Logic 9.

1. In Arrange, select a single MIDI or audio region on a track with multiple regions. Go to another screenset and come back (or just refresh the first screenset). Now all regions on that track are selected, as if you had just made that track active.

2. If you have an Arrange & Piano Roll windows open in the same screenset, selecting a MIDI region in Arrange shows the contents of the selected region in Piano Roll, as it should. But having them in different screensets breaks the connection. The selected region is visible in Piano Roll, but you need to manually scroll to its location. (This thing alone makes LX in its current state pretty useless for me.)

3. Waves SSLChannel & SSLGChannel plugins usually look like this when you open them. Switching to Controls and back to Editor fixes the problem, until you open the plugin window again.

I think it's a good idea to do a whole new thread for bugs. This one has too much pointless noise.

1) The quality of Logic Pro X' score notation editor
2) Microtuning support in the new version?
Looking on Page 886 of the LPX manual, it says, "Logic Pro includes a real-time tuning system, for use with the included software instruments." Does that mean it doesn't work with other plugins?
Are user scales with other than 12 notes supported? On the same manual page it looks like you can only enter offsets to the 12 chromatic notes.

1) I wrote two orchestral pieces last year using Logic's notation editor, + all the orchestral parts, so yes, it's very capable once you understood the staff style system where you change styles per region and then set the overall/global layout settings in the score style editor.

2) Microtuning (and all other tuning settings) only works for Logic's plugs, not 3rd party.

I'm still using v 9 though, but things haven't changed in X I bet.

I salute you. I made a few small charts & a piano score before, but it was more traumatic than doing taxes (well okay maybe not)

That said, I recall it can now export MusicXML? That's actually quite exciting in itself (assuming it's not buggy)

So... I was able to complain enough about buying Logic Pro 9 on April 27th to get a refund and buy Logic Pro X. Downloading the extra content now. So far I like it. I use logic express off and on for a few years, mostly off. But I hope to spend more time in LPX. I like it so far.

Was on the Live chat about it to some bulls knacker that hadn't a clue what they were talking about and got the old story about this being a brand new product.

Thanks mate, at first i was pissed but then i reckoned that £139 x2 wasn't a bad deal for a DAW of this quality. I got quite a good deal when i think of it even though i had my rant in Live chat last week. Now i know how things work i'll just leave it. Good for the guy who got a refund though

I replied back to the help person two or three times. I also submitted a complaint through their iTunes website.
It may have helped that I've ordered probably a hundred thousand dollars worth of hardware/software from Apple as part of my job over the last 15 years but I don't really know if that had a bearing or not. I was complaining on my personal account not my business one. The trick is I think to respond multiple times rather than accept the first rejection.

Yeah i hear you mate. Being new to Macs etc i just jumped and thought WTF i just paid for Logic 9 expecting X to be free lol.. now i know the score it's all good. No complaints here i got a great DAW here even if i did pay twice hehe.
Well worth it to me. Should have bought in to this years back.

I joined another forum, no posts yet but i'm getting more good info there than on here. They seem to wanna discuss the daw in question a lot more and there's some good advice there. Your probably members anyways but it's a good read

they're not beyond giving the cold shoulder if you want to express 'concerns' (read :have a little rant ) about the new update

criticisms that address the software should be able to be voiced, and then discussed without people getting defensive

that i think the gui is very garageband-esque is not my issue...that it is seemingly not one thing or the other is my issue...i actually think garageband has the perfect gui for it's needs, and i have no issues with that style transferring to logic..but just keep it unified...what's with the 2 types of sliders happening...we have the garageband sliders in the arrange window (which i like), but then the faux-hardware sliders in the mixer

worse than this, to me, is the revelation that logic is moving the way of less customisation leaving users with no choice but to just be spoonfed

for me, it's turning out to be great; am adapting to the GUI, and love the new options & features (summing track stacks is PROFOUND on my 13" macbook pro).

well you started out great, and then it becomes a variation on the theme of 'you can't do anything about it, so like it or lump it..and you can choose something else if you don't like it'...this , followed by the requisite inferance that people should just stop moaning and make music...

well, i haven't skipped a beat using logic 9 so am still 'working'

why should my only option to be just deal with it or find something else...why can't i discuss with others to see if my fears and gripes are warranted, while finding about others' issues.either i'm gonna get an idea that my issues are unwarranted, or maybe i'll find out enough people agree such that there is a chance that it will filter back to apple and changes might be made

not to mention that updating to logic x will involve me having to buy a new computer...i'm watching this unfold to see what happens with bug reports and incremental updates before i decide to look elsewhere (i didn't say it wasn't an option)

i would imagine that those that are truly content will have the least to offer to the conversation, but it seems there is a tendency to try and silence those who find issues in things you may not
