JP-4c for Reaktor: free JP-8000 Supersaw emulation

A new Reaktor ensemble based on the JP-8000 Supersaw seems to be available:
http://alex-shore.com/jp-4c/
Have not checked it so far but the features do look quite similar to those in Adam Szabo's JP6K. Like JP6K it seems to miss some features of the real thing while JP6K seems to produce a perfect Supersaw sound.
UPDATE:
Started having a look at JP-4c. The ZIP file includes a PDF with the Bachelor thesis of the author. Looks like Adam he did his thesis about this and he cited Adam in it.
Anyway this offers the opportunity to get a similar sound for Mac users as JP6K is Windows only.
UPDATE:
Started having a look at the Reaktor ensemble. The Supersaw sounds nice indeed but not sure about the overall sound. Have also not directly compared to JP6K yet.
The ensemble does not seem to include custom modules. The most complex macro/module seems to be the Supersaw. This besides a detune curve contains a HPF. That supersaw module should work nicely in other ensembles too.
I also added this here:

If I had Monark, which I will do soon, I'd be sticking that there supersaw oscillator in to Monark.

Already had the same idea. Will try ASAP...cytospur wrote:If I had Monark, which I will do soon, I'd be sticking that there supersaw oscillator in to Monark.
Have already saved the macro of the Supersaw part.

Seems too be a real problem. I wanted to use the Monark with the poly modification.cytospur wrote:If I had Monark, which I will do soon, I'd be sticking that there supersaw oscillator in to Monark.
I had saved the Supersaw as a macro. It uses standard modules and no Core Cell modules.
The part of Monark with the oscillators and filters is completely done with Core Cell modules and if i open the editor window there the Supersaw macro is disappeared form the list.
Is it not possible to combine "standard" macros with core cell modules?

Nope, core is a completely different level in Reaktor, and the Core Cell is the translation device betwee the primary layers (ie, all the other Reaktor modules) and Core, so Core resides within the Core cell. Within the Core Cell you have Core macro's, but indeed no regular modules, they can't communicate...Ingonator wrote:Is it not possible to combine "standard" macros with core cell modules?
looks like the supersaw has to be recreated with Core....

Compared to the standard modules it seems to be very difficult to understand how those Core modules in Monark work or even how they are connected.BDeep wrote:Nope, core is a completely different level in Reaktor, and the Core Cell is the translation device betwee the primary layers (ie, all the other Reaktor modules) and Core, so Core resides within the Core cell. Seems to be closer to a programming language than a modular environment...
IT would be great if NI of someone else would provide a converter to create Core macros from standard macros or if it would just be possible to combine both.
Anyway somehow the standard modules in Monark must communicate with the core modules which means there should be a way to get them work together.
From the structure of the Monark ensemble this is just not totally obvious.

Agreed, Core is really a level deeper, and it allows for custom filter designs for instance. I think NI may be planning on rebuilding the other modules in Core for the next update (the manual hints that the regular modules aren't abandonned at this point).Ingonator wrote:Compared to the standard modules it seems to be very difficult to understand how those Core modules in Monark work or even how they are connected.BDeep wrote:Nope, core is a completely different level in Reaktor, and the Core Cell is the translation device betwee the primary layers (ie, all the other Reaktor modules) and Core, so Core resides within the Core cell. It surely is possible to combine both the Monark structure in Core and the supersaw osc (in Primary). But in order to do so, you must really know how Monark is built (including Core parts) so you can make the proper ins and outs in the Monark Core module. You'd have to be an expert for that (I'm not).
Or, and this seems easier, try to recreate the supersaw within Core. If it can be built with the regular modules, I think it can also be built with the Core macros, since no special DSP seems to be incorporated. But yeah, that would take same time to analyse how the supersaw was built up in this ensemble, and how to create that within Core.

The Supersaw macro is quite complex. Would be a tough task to do in Core i guess.BDeep wrote:Agreed, Core is really a level deeper, and it allows for custom filter designs for instance. Just started having a look at the Core tutorial:

A winrar of the ensemble itself, gives a file of just 38KB! Could maybe add supersaw ability to the Commodore 64?

What a coincidence! Yesterday I was reading the Szabo thesis and stumbled about this other reaktor ensemble: http://co.native-instruments.com/index. ... chid=12840
