Your one of those guys that want people to work for nothing ? How would a relatively small company survive with such practice ?

See how much a roofer charges to replace a few batons and felt.

The 64bit update for Imposcar 2 is free. Imposcar 1 was discontinued long before the era of 64bit native expectations.

As I said earlier, I think IMP2 looks to be a great product, but I don't find $75 worth of value for myself to upgrade.

That means really that its going to cost me $75 to get 64bit and a bunch of extra nice stuff that I don't really need and would rather spend on a different synth or plugin. No question about it, GeForce is using the 64bit situation as leverage to get more of us to pay a rather costly synth upgrade. Hey we are all welcome to our own opinion, I don't like that business practice and will vote with my wallet on something else. ticks me off that they never made IMP1 64bit and then it took them forever to make IMP2 64bit on on top of that. Never mind MInimonsta which is another one I own and still not 64bit either...what kind of ridiculous upgrade are they going to force me to do on that one in order to have 64bit mini moog?

bahh.. I don't like their business strategy of handling the 64bit issue that way. many other companies have been more reasonable, making the 64bit issue be more of a neccessity and then creating new synths that have real new value to separate me from my wallet. GeForce has not really done that here, they have not created $75 worth of new value and so unfortunately yes I am going to bitch and moan and say what i think about the fact that I can't move to 64bit Mainstage because of their ridiculous policy of forcing me to upgrade to a new synth in order to get 64bit usability out of the one I already own from them.

You are welcome to love IMP2 of course and enjoy it, I'm sure its wonderful. For me, I'd rather put that money into something new and I'll just deal with 32bit plugin somehow.

cheers.

An updated Oddity given an overhaul similar to Imposcar 2- now that I would def pay for. Still use the original Oddity and it kicks ass!

Post

My oddity needs 64bits too hehehe. Gosh it will be hundreds of dollars though to upgrade all those synths to 64bit at the rate they are going.

@Dewdman42

64-bit updates of the *current* versions of the plugins from GForce have been free so far, so Minimonsta, I suspect, will follow the same suit.

Your argument regarding Imposcar 1 is like someone saying, "I can't believe NI didn't make Kontakt 2 and Absynth 3 64-bit. They're just forcing me to pay for the upgrades!"

Imposcar 2 is the current version of the plugin and it's been out for over 2 years! Why would they go back and update an old version to 64-bit? Are there examples of companies doing this? The upgrade price is not just for 64-bit. It has extra features. The upgrade price is for the features. The 64-bit version was included for free.

At any rate, your certainly entitled to your opinion, but I suspect it's a minority viewpoint on this one.

I sure hope you don't own Sampletank 2 (or 1) because you'll really be in for a shock.

Post

yes I do and I know that is coming. But I also got sampletank for a ridiculously low price, and that is why I'm sure they sold it for a ridiculously low price, so I'm ok with that. when 3 comes out. It might turn out to be a rather substantial update also with lots of new content, etc..

By the way, just for the record, the 64bit issue has been around for nearly a decade. Absolutely no product can claim ignorance about it. Sonar was building a 32bit bridge more than 5 years ago into the DAW for this very reason.

Post

The 64bit update is free and it's fantastic being able to work with ImpOSCAR 2 without the bridge:) Yeah!

Hell you can even say, why are they dropping support for IMP1 then. if IMP2 is really a new product with a free 64bit update, then why did they drop support for IMP1? The truth is, they made IMP1, which is a great synth in its own right...then they decided to put all of the IMP1 users into a position where we have to upgrade to a new synth IMP2 in order to get support like 64bit. Its a very expensive upgrade. you people crack me up with your justifications and blindness to that GeForce did there. Other companies have been way more reasonable about it.

A reasonable move would have been to support IMP1 with bug fixes and yes 64bit, then create something new that is so awesome that everyone will want to spend $75 more to get it. They haven't done that here for me. So they won't get it. doesn't matter what you say, they aren't going to get it.

No, there isnt a company out there which has updated an obsoleted version of their plugin to x64 two years after the succeeding version was released. You've been asked, repeatedly, to name one, but you've completely ignored the request, so please dont handwave it away as though it were a fact when you're doing that.
A reasonable move would have been... 64bit
No, this expectation is not reasonable, as evinced by the fact that it is almost unheard of for software companies, audio or not, to provide 64-bit versions of obsolete versions of their software two years after the product is upgraded.
Hell you can even say, why are they dropping support for IMP1 then. if IMP2 is really a new product with a free 64bit update, then why did they drop support for IMP1?
That's a ridiculously disingenuous statement. Even you acknowledge that its V2 of the software.

You should find CPU use is a bit better too, I rewrote the assembler parts to make use of the extra registers available in 64 bit mode, I've not made any measurements, but Beta testers have said it's got more efficient.

Also, for those who haven't tried it out yet, I've made it a bit more test friendly, the vinyl crackling won't come in for an hour (this time reduces as you actually use it in a project, I want you to be able to test it comfortably before paying, not record an album!)
