After another couple of hours of using LPX (it's been a very busy week), I must say I'm still impressed.

I've had a chance to finally plug my bass using a humble Apogee Jam, and Bass Amp Designer sounds good, better IMO than Amplitube Ampeg and Softube BAR. More presence, more balanced eq and a fuller sound overall.

The new cabinet mics for Amp Designer are decent, but I still have to add a short reverb in order to get a good sound; my favourite is the "Recording Room" preset in the "Small" folder of Space Designer with the wet level down to -18db.

The tuner is finally accurate, and it seems to handle guitar and bass without troubles. You can now open it from the menu bar.

Another really cool feature is that you can save folder stacks in something like a super-preset, that can include instruments, audio/midi effects and multiple tracks and aux tracks. The new library relies a lot on this new feature.

I still don't like Pedalboard distortions and fuzzboxes (old or new), but the new flanger, whammy and reverse delay sound cool, specially when pushed into self oscillation. I guess I'll have to buy a fuzz pedal when more money is available.

This is a nice overview of new features..

I especially liked the part on the new drummer tracks.

Well, I've been using it for a few days now and although it's a bit buggy, I think it's a very good update. The new UI is ace and everything is just more streamlined, visually as well as functional.

Not a single one of the bugs I found almost immediately are fixed in 10.0.1.

Just wondering... since most of the bugs seem to related to screensets, does anyone (except me) even use screensets any more?

It is really cool using the drums from the oceanway/drummaster groupbuy a few years ago with the new logic drummer. Spending hours just messing with this.

Only ever accidentally. It confounds me every time. i wish i could disable the feature. I'm sure it's useful for people, but i'm not into it, personally.

I wonder if they'll do it all again on Cubase 8 or S1 v4 or Sonar X4, if the shiny is big enough.

Logic does look pretty cool though. If I was on Mac I might eBay my Cubase 5 + dongle (since I never actually use it anymore) for $200.

Logic X would be something I'd actually occasionally launch.

I know. I suddenly see some people selling their S1 Pro's for $200. I don't have to guess why that is.

One thing about Logic being so inexpensive already is that you'll never see a cross-grade offer, like cross-grade from Reaper or Samp or PT for $189.99.

One other thing about Logic X at $199 new with no version upgrade discount, is that (for people who buy it and find they ultimately don't like it, which might turn out to be a really minimal amount of people, dunno) the resale value will be pretty low, if Apple even allows re-sale or Apple store license transfers, dunno.

I mean later on, rather than buy used Logic X for $100 then buy Logic XI for $200, you might as well just wait for Logic XI and save $100.

Some Apple users will find out that there Mac cant be upgraded to OSX version blank and that they cant run Logic X unless they buy a new Mac . Apple is pretty slick $$$$$$ ! . Im happy with Android / Google and DIY PC builds with Windows and Linux . But I will say Apple has " The Best User Experience " with there products and how they work , but there is a price to pay . Android / Google have gotten better with Google Play Store , Gmail Google Drive etc etc . Now Microsoft is a little behind still Im thinking Zune , Windows Phone , and Windows 8 they are way to late . Anyways HAppy Days for Apple / Logic users

I bought it, total impulse buy

Mac users blah blah blah cod psychology blah.

Nice bit of software, very elegant and so far so good on getting stuff done with it.

Or if not that, maybe still just a new OS, sure.

That is one thing that gives more financial power to Apple, having control over both the workstation and the OS it's designed to run on. Maybe not necessarily the hardware with Hackintosh and all that being an option (I guess)... but you have to buy their OS in any case.

But sure, they could probably very easily (... if they wanted to do that, I have no personal clue if they do that intentionally or not to be honest ...) make any new version of Logic or FCP or whatever dependent on a specific minimum OS version for no other reason than they just want to, to sell more copies of OS upgrades or whatever. No clue if they actually do that, without good cause.

But as the old saying goes ... "You mostly buy a thing for what it is right now, not so much what it will be 2-3 years from now." So... people cross that bridge (or not) when or if they ever get to it.

I have a intel core 2 duo white macbook , it cant be upgraded to the new OSX or Logic X . Its kind of on its last breathe anyhow , but I was just making a point about Apple . But if it was PC Laptop it could run Windows8 , actually I could dual boot the macbook with Windows7 or 8. or Ubuntu if I wanted too , but cant upgrade it to the newer OSX . l

Not that I actually do want to update OSX, I don't, but I didn't know that.

Anyway, back on topic. Logic X seems great. I've watched some YT's on it, one really long one in particular with a professional movie score guy, pretty cool indeed. Not that he was showing Logic X features, more that he's comfortable enough to do that kind of critical deadline work in it.
