Crash with Kontakt 5 and SONAR

After having messed around with the demo I have just purchased RapidComposer LE 2.2.

Now I try to do some real work with it but if Kontakt 5 is selected as an VSTi, RC just crashes without a hint.

I run everything on 64bit and on Win7.

Edit on 27.07.13

I have experimented a little ... the crash with Kontakt 5 is only with the "Kontakt 5.dll (5.0.3.5812)" but it works with "Kontakt 5 8out.dll" and "Kontakt 5 16out.dll" of the same built. --> ??? Did I mess up something?

The crash comes like this.
- Change the instrument of a track to Kontakt 5 and RC seems to start Kontakt 5
- the typical Kontakt window during loading the samples appears (but there is no instrument selected yet)
- crash ...

The other .dll do not try to load something. One can push the "edit" button, select an instrument and go on.

There is also some weird issue, if I use the RC VST inside SONAR. Typically a synth or vst-instrument/effect assigns itself to a new track. And that's it.

But the RC-VST also assigns itself to the default SONAR master bus as an effect using the effect FX Chain capability of the Pro-Channel. But this is blocking the audio processing of the master until the "effect" is bypassed. If I try to remove the "effect" I receive a crash of Sonar. What the heck is this good for? After the "effect" is bypassed RC seems to work fine.

BTW ... your software is quite inspiring and I can also live with the in-built sounds of the stand-alone. But I would love to use my plug-ins directly to have a better monitoring of the composition.

Kind Regards

Thank you for reporting this. I'll get Kontakt 5 and do tests with it. I have only Kontakt 4 installed and that seems to work.

Can it be the problem with Sonar that RC outputs both audio and MIDI channels? I do not know Sonar enough but I know that RC does not do anything like that in other DAWs. I am sure that RC does not use audio input channels and does not advertise itself as an effect.

Thank you for the feedback. A bug fix update is being prepared.

Thanks,
Attila

Hi Attila,

thanks for your reply. May be that you are right with SONAR. If RC does not require a special treatment for integration than SONAR might be the culprit. For RC is working if "disabled" as an effect, one has only to know the trick, so don't worry about this issue.

kind regards :)
