Really? Is it honestly "Legendary"?

It is bad-ass without a doubt, IMO, but has it already reached and become deserving of that pillar "Legendary Status"?

Hehe...

The fact it has so many presets available for it is amazing and few can make that claim so at what level do you declare a synth legendary. It comes with Sonar so it is a great perk for those needing a first DAW. Of course they also include Dimension Pro, Rapture, Pentagon, SI Strings, Drop Zone, Session Drummer, Beat scape, RXP, etc.... plus Z3ta so the overall package plus the FX and DAW it is the best choice for someone who needs a first DAW.

Synth1 and oatmeal are the free synths that probably earn that designation among free synths from the massive number of presets they have.

In commercial synths Z3ta is in the top 10 all time so I agree. If I am buyng a vsti I want to have plenty of presets and quality is important,Z3ta definitely delivers in terms of presets available.

Synthmaster is a legend as well on the strength of its famous presets
OPX pro II ditto
GForce minimonsta ditto
Korg Legacy
Native Instruments Komplete and the KLC as packages go are definitely legendary status worthy

If you have anything else and you could have had these then you have chosen unwisely IMHO these are the basics everyone should have and from there you add to your collection.

It came with the DAW, I hated its included sounds and bought a four banks for twenty package (which helped a lot). It is a powerful synth, although I really haven't used in in any sequencing really (except patterns tested with othe VSTs) Somehow falls into the box with other ones someone else mentioned here (KLC)&(V-Station/Bass Station that I've had for a couple years). I actually find I like Rapture the best of the three included Sonar synths. Thing is, I've just started using Z3ta as an effect and even though I'm still experimenting with it right now, I see this might be its real use for me in any possibility of being personally legendary.

As always, its subjective and YMMV.

I think what makes this synth legendary are the Muz3uM and Muz3uM 2 banks. The first time I went through the presets they were just awe-inspiring. I did upgrade, but I don't think that version 2 added that much to z3ta+. Now you just have a bunch of presets that are more distored and grungy-sounding. It must just be the style that's in now. I love the pure sounds best.

Actually, one walkback from the prev post - the arp sequencer is actually a good improvement. It lets me turn those completely unusable MIDI arp melodies into simple repeated notes or simple arps.

It is legendary because it was one of the first VST's that actually sounded decent....

You could still be using this...

Seeing how fast the soft synth market moves, soft synths that are over 10 years old and still being on the cutting edge would have to be labeled legendary. I would think these kind of plugins would be entitled to such a honour:

Reaktor
Minimonsta
Oddity
Zebra
z3ta+

Does z3ta 2 already earn legendary status? I mean it's not that old... :P

Thankfully, there are no rules to something being legendary. I believe for something to be actually legendary, it must be a common, widely accepted, status.
Another thing is, legendary is something I usually associate with an accomplishment. A musician can be legendary for instance. A synth would be more iconic.

Or am I making things more complicated now? :P

Tbh, i doubt any soft synth will ever claim "legandary status" anyway... software is just not made for that. Legends have to rust, catch dust, and sound unstable. Software will more likely "sound shitty" in 10 years. :P

Lengendary is just a word, you can use many ways to measure that I guess.

Sylenth1 deserves a lot of credit seeing how good it sounds 7 years after being released.

About z3ta+, IMO one can't jugde z3ta+ 2 just on Vol 2, need to see z3ta+ Vol 1 in the same equation.

Zebra is for instance at v2.6 now, so is Zebra Vol 1 legendary/iconic and Zebra Vol 2 not?
