When recording the midi output, the onset delay of Cream is equal to the length of the first note.

If I am using 1/16ths, there is a 1/16th lag before the first note begins. If I start with a Length setting of 4 on that first note, then the lag goes to 1/4 note.

I would of course like there to be no lag. But having the length setting increase the lag is more confusing.

I'm using Cubase.

Does anyone else experience this?

I can of course 'slide' the notes in the midi file to correct for this, but it is a distraction for running the sequencer while trying out ideas.

Under 'Settings' does the global preference setting 'Start Notes Immediately' correct this? I forgot it was there until you asked.

Hope this helps in your setup, it sure is a neat feature.

Super ... thanks!

I'll double check and get back.

That was it!

I have read the manual ... but I'm going to have to go through it again. I don't understand the option. Why would anyone not want the notes to start immediately?

Having it turned 'Off' is great when you are playing along with something else.
It provides a "forced sync" so your playing lands on your host's beat.
Kinda like an auto quantizing feature.

Turning it 'On' allows for minute timing syncopations to happen depending on the timing of your playing. But most of the time I like it 'OFF'.

Got it ... makes perfect sense.

Since I'm a midi programmer and not a player I didn't think of that.
