It certainly can consume a lot of CPU... my point was that if you do a like for like with sylenth there isnt a massive difference. ANA has lots of extra options/features that can send CPU way up but there is always a price for awesomeness.ferez21 wrote:^^ ANA definitely sounds great, but it consumes way more cpu than i expected.

Youre generally right, but take a look at Harmor with its never ending options set....also never crosses the 8% cpu usage at my machine.....it's not trivial, but it exists

Harmor is a difficult one, as its additive synthesis which i have no baseline to compare it with. Ive also never tried it as its PC only. I will give it blast next time i fire up bootcamp... looks like a really cool synth.ferez21 wrote:Youre generally right, but take a look at Harmor with its never ending options set....also never crosses the 8% cpu usage at my machine.....it's not trivial, but it exists

I dont know if it is for MAC but Rapture is awesome. Right now for some reason im getting errors and I use Jbridge. Im currently investigating.

Rapture can do some amazing stuff, but its workflow is frustrating to me.....setting up an essential thing like a filter takes too many clicks TBH.MadAnthony81 wrote:I dont know if it is for MAC but Rapture is awesome. I don't see Harmor in this department. This synth sounds too different and the workflow is not near as easy compared to Sylenth, Ana, Spire, Dune,... Give Harmor a guy and say he should do simple stuff like to set a filter envelope, amp envelope for oscillator 1 or change the waveform to saw... the design is in my opinion over-complicated for simple stuff, other stuff is so easy so you can ask yourself: does it really need a "pluck" knob for creation of pluck sounds?
Some good ideas, flexible because of the state-file idea, good sound, good Unison implementation... but you have sometimes the feeling you must have a degree in computer science to use simple stuff like a envelope

I agree, that's why i wasn't actually suggesting it as an alternative to Sylenth, it was just my example for a "very-complex-yet-low-on-cpu" kind of synth4damind wrote:I don't see Harmor in this department. I wouldn't consider it hijacking. This thread is about Sylenth alternatives, and ANA probably comes the closest.Phil Sonic Academy wrote: P.S. sorry for hijacking the thread i just have a lot of love for ANA
I demoed both Sylenth and ANA extensively earlier this year. Would have bought ANA had I not fallen in love w/ Diva.
