Hi all,

Although I've technically quit live sound, in practise I still run shows from time to time, and sometimes I need to bring along some extra FX to supplement those that are provided. I have for many years relied on my laptop to provide decent delay & reverb FX, and a little Mackie interface is perfect except that I can't bus power it from my mini firewire port and have to carry a PSU as well.

So I was considering buying a bus-powerable USB interface instead... but when I look at whats available I find half of them are now iPad compatible as well as mac & PC.

Which it got me thinking: why not use my iPad instead, and travel a bit lighter?

So, I wondered if anyone could recommend

A: an interface that works reliably with the iPad (latest version with "Lightning" connector) with at least 2 line ins and line outs, preferably on full sized TRS jacks not mini jacks or phonos. Mic pres would be a bonus if they're reasonably decent, but not essential.

B: apps that will run standalone or via audiobus that can provide respectable reverb, tap tempo delay, modulation FX etc in realtime.

Thanks in advance!

No one has any opinions on this then...?

Hi Dan,

I was looking to do the same thing so good question. Last night night i decided to order one of those new 128gb iPads mainly for Audio Bus and controlling Logic Pro X and doing some music on the go so it'd be interesting to see some reply's to your topic here.

Thanks

Rob

When using the Ipad for live effects, I use a Roland DUO-CAPTURE EX connected to an analog mixer as an auxiliary effect( SEND / RETURN).

For Reverb, I use AURIA's convolution reverb and Space Sampler
For Delay, Filter, Modulation and the rest : Filtatron and JamUp

Interface is not bus powered by the Ipad + CCK (but can work with batteries) but effects and overall sound quality is great

Grab turnado app and you can remix the sound on the fly hehe.. That'd suprise them, if you're mixing a band ... ;-)
