Would you keep and iPhone 4S hanging around...(for testing apps and using them)?

I have some apps that work on it like Pixitracker and Arpeggionome
I am thinking it would be cool just to keep it around as a little instrument
and buy the 5S (or whatever is the newest) in addition as opposed to trading it in or selling
but I want to make apps as well
so does anyone think it would be useful to keep the 4S around to test my creations????
I new to iOS programming but i do know there is an iPhone emulator in the SDK

If you are planning on making apps I would recommend keeping the 4S to use for testing. Although there is an emulator in the SDK, it is no substitute for having an actual device to test on. The versions of the iPhone 4 are still being sold, so there is still a very large user base for these phones. Also, it is better to test mobile apps on the lowest end device you want to target to make sure that all users get the best experience.

I never throw stuff away so I second the idea of keeping it.
Especially when you want to write your own apps and all. Furthermore you won't have to jailbreak your new iPhone (unless ofcourse you're planning to anyways).

nothing will replace the real thing is my philosophy as well for testing
does anyone know if you can test the app on your actual iphone before you put it on the app store?
