Probably just free as in Zinio offering a magazine for free and so being able to download the CM plugins that way, but that can't really be said to be free and easily available since the offer was limited.Aiynzahev wrote:What about the CM editions DDMF LP10 and the other IIRpro or something, as they were mag were but I also saw that they were free recently.

Very true, I too have had the experience where expectations are totally opposite to results. Of course it must all be taken with a grain of salt as a different group of people or a different site might have scored differently so not to take opinions (votes) as gospel of course. But don't underestimate sound quality either as a song might be good and still fare poorly because it's not bright and wide enough, so keep in mind it might not all be because of composing etc.organic io wrote:Nah... After participating in the SDCompo regularly, I learned a long time ago to never really have any expectations for how well your song is going to do. I've had songs that I thought "I'm sure this is going to do well" that ended up getting dead last. And then I've had another song that I thought was total crap and I was sure would get last, and it ended up getting 2nd place!e@rs wrote: Thank you, idfpower. I am thinking exactly the same. But after putting a lot of time and effort in the making of a track it's very hard not to be upset when the response is so bad.
So you just never knowIt helps to have thick skin and go in with no expectations

I totally agree. That's the way to go. Thanx for writing it down.organic io wrote:Nah... Glad you could move ahead so easy after the initial disappointment. I can learn from that.abovethoughts wrote:To e@rs, I placed last in the Feldspar OSC and what made me move after a bit of disappointment was the comments and opinions of others really was fun to get, but ultimately not to be relied upon.
It's really up to you and what you were gifted with from above, did you like your song, did you get pleasure making it, did you grow from it, how did you relate to it. Other's opinions will come around when you connect with your discoveries, as it's as much about the process as the results. Maybe more so.
Sorry if that was too strong, or insensitive, but I know I would like to hear your track this month or the next one you enterRemember it also makes the competition stronger having you enter, so you are helping just by entering.
Sorry, no track for Xils 3, maybe next month.

There was a track (to moderate) in the wrong group called "I Am Jarre" from "Call of Man", which could easily be a Xils track.
I sent a message to him asking if he has participated in OSC, due i didn't see a text entry from him and also was in the wrong group.
I hope he can reply me in time and solve this confussing situation.
Just that, have a nice day and good luck everyone

After creating a lot of nice presets for XILS3BE, I had not enough time to make a (good) song. Shit happens
Therefore this month only a lot of sounds from me...but next time I'm back again with a complete song
http://www.kvraudio.com/banks.php?s=dl&id=1912
Just import the *.evcs in XILS3BE ("Import Bank") and select "Bank/Author" and "Type" for better overview.
Have fun!

Nice presets indeed, cheers.
But one thing that confused me throughout this competition is how the BE version was said not to load banks, but in reality it works for some, but not others..
(works here btw)

Hi guys. I'm sorry I disappeared like this for some time. Unfortunately, I was kinda busy and I have no OSC track this month. I was planning to do one, but it's just too late to start now. Anyway, I'll try to listen and vote though. Good luck to everyone!

Well, my song is in the final stages here... Just have to touch up a few things tonight and it'll be ready to submit! Finally I will be entering OSC for the first time after at least 3 previous rounds of starting something but abandoning it later.
I've listened to some of the other entries, good work everybody! I'm interested to listen to them all and give/receive comments

Goll darnit... I know how that feels to abondon projects... I have about 7 abondoned OSC projects.organic io wrote:Well, my song is in the final stages here... I have noticed after doing many OSC's is that you get a synth muscle memory... makes things go quicker - especially knowing what effects plugins work with what sounds, etc

I will start to make my track now
always late this is the story of my life.
Hope I will manage to put up something before the deadline ^^
I have a few questions regarding what fx we can use or not, it is still a bit confusing to me. So what I think for now :
EQ, Compressors/limiters/gates/expanders, Delays, Reverbs, Saturators/waveshapers/clippers, stereo enhancers/panners, tremolos are allowed
Phaser is not allowed (even it can be reproduced with EQ automation)
Flanger/chorus is not allowed (even it can be reproduced with short delay)
pitch shifting is not allowed (I don't see how to mimic this one
)
FX that makes the sound not recognizable are not allowed.
So I think distortion/overdoing saturation-waveshaping is not allowed
Is bitcrushing allowed ?
Vibrato fx are disallowed I guess since they shift the pitch ?
Are ampsims allowed ?
Granulizing the sound is disallowed I guess ? But is a granular delay allowed ?
Sorry for the late pile of questions
I wish already good luck to all the participants, even if I don't make it in time ^^

Not a direct answer, but I had lots of fun discovering new plugins from the page V'ger put together for us, https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/re ... ed-pluginsDavias wrote: I have a few questions regarding what fx we can use or not, it is still a bit confusing to me. So what I think for now :

1) True, Phaser PLUGINS is now allowed, unless in the synth. You can recreate it using Automation.
2) Flanger / Chorus same. You could reproduce it
3) Pitch shift not allowed... you can reproduce it using delay units if you really wanted to
These questions are the same with alcohol... drink with moderation my friend
4) Distortion is allowed if used moderately. It's best when on the synth - then you can crank the bastard full to 11
5) Bitcrush is allowed if used moderately
6) Vibrato is not allowed since it pitch shifts... correct
7) Amps yes, just like sat/excit/distort but with moderation

There will be no submission by RuediRena this month. True, our preview track submitted here in the thread started rather promising. Then trouble began. We had serious buffer under-run issues and couldn't really cure them even by freezing a lot of tracks. No time for trouble shooting left and I am too tired to be motivated for a work-around-late-night session. So we will save the 'Molecular Cooking' ideas for August.
We wish you all luck in the contest, friends.
Cheers
