1) True, Phaser PLUGINS is now allowed, unless in the synth. You can recreate it using Automation.
2) Flanger / Chorus same. You could reproduce it
3) Pitch shift not allowed... you can reproduce it using delay units if you really wanted to

These questions are the same with alcohol... drink with moderation my friend
4) Distortion is allowed if used moderately. It's best when on the synth - then you can crank the bastard full to 11
5) Bitcrush is allowed if used moderately
6) Vibrato is not allowed since it pitch shifts... correct
7) Amps yes, just like sat/excit/distort but with moderation

Thanks for the detailed answer ^^ I was using Atlantis filter with envelopes triggered by midi because I find the envelopes not easy to use on the xils. And then I activated bit crushing by mistake and it sounded much better (while keeping the original character of the already filtered sound). This led to me brainstorming myself about what were the limits of allowed fxs since I needed lot of fx to have fun with xils for now.

So I went through my list of free fxes to see every category and think if I could use them or not. So now I think I could use dblue glitch, if I don't use reverse/stretcher/shuffler

This leads me to other questions to refine my knowledge :
- I asked about bitcrushing, but what about quantization/S&H ? At first I was thinking about bitcrushing as the whole stuff but now I'm not so sure ^^
- What about ring modulation ? same rules as for distortions or disallowed ?

There will be no submission by RuediRena this month. True, our preview track submitted here in the thread started rather promising. Then trouble began. We had serious buffer under-run issues and couldn't really cure them even by freezing a lot of tracks. No time for trouble shooting left and I am too tired to be motivated for a work-around-late-night session. So we will save the 'Molecular Cooking' ideas for August.

I understand that as I've just experienced host freezing, I managed to save the broken project but on re-opening all synths got reset to default patch and some fx too :p I think I will watch a movie and eat now... and then I'll try once more later if my motivation comes back

Quantize / S&H... sounds like a no i think, but perhaps others have an idea.

Ring modulation... Should be fine in moderation.

About effects, it's as you all say except only gater, delay and crusher can be used from Dblue Glitch.

I have noticed (...) that you get a synth muscle memory... makes things go quicker - especially knowing what effects plugins work with what sounds, etc

Thanks for the support, finally I was able to use an earlier backup to recover my presets and just had to redo two chains of fx. But now I'm stuck with a lack of inspiration I have a nice melody and some funny sounds but can't put them back together :p let's see what will happen ^^
