Imini

I got a chance to program and play a minimoog voyager tonight at a friend's studio. WOW!! However, I have to say, Imini gets damn close. Impressed with both, and of course there's nothing like the real deal. Imini will have to continue to work for me though. Someday!

Sounds fun, the only real analog thing I've ever gotten to play around with was a Juno 106 I got when I was younger, mid 90s. Which I just gave away! Young and stupid, it had a missing knob/slider and all like any proper Juno 106 should lol!
About the iMini.. The guys on the Sonic Touch show (I think it's called that) did a side by side comparison with the app and the real thing, and basically the only difference they could notice was just that the different outputs might give a slightly different sound (the earplugs out on the iPad can vary depending on model, and so on for example) but that was it, except the kinda inherent tuning "instability" on the real one. The episode is on their YouTube channel. So the guys who programmed this thing originally obviously did their homework (btw wasn't Mr Moog himself one the dudes helping out with that particular VST?).

Yes, I saw that. I listen to sonic talk every week and watch sonic touch whenever it's out. I think bob moog just approved arturia's synth, I'm not certain that he actually did any work. And funny enough, listen to sonic talk and hear what Dave spiers has to say about arturia, no great love there (he is the man behind g-force, so he created minimonsta). That being said though, I love imini.
I did find, with the voyager, that the tuning knobs on oscillators 2 and 3 were very very sensitive, it was very hard to nail exactly what I wanted at first. But they did sound similar, it was not a revelation in the sense that I'd never heard it, imini really is that close. Still, the real one was awesome. I went to my friend's studio for a different reason, and it was very cool to discover he had purchased a minimoog in the past year. I wanted to cry when he said, "I don't use it much." Anyway, it was fun, I probably could have stayed 100 more hours and played with it. 😄

That's something I've noticed on the Sub Phatty as well: the iMini has a much wider zone for finetuning. But that's because it's using the whole knob; for coarse tuning, there's a separate knob window, which the physical synths don't have.mrufino1 wrote:I did find, with the voyager, that the tuning knobs on oscillators 2 and 3 were very very sensitive, it was very hard to nail exactly what I wanted at first.

One thing that's nice about the iMini is that it is polyphonic and not monophonic.

I've been having issues with the imini staying in tune. When using a user created patch the imini will periodically become sharper in pitch. I usually use it with iGrand via audiobus and a VI from garage band.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any suggestions or ideas why this may be happening?
Thanks

---I bought iMIni immediately when it came out and immediately had issues with it crashing. I wasn't unique and Arturia's service is far less than steller as you'll see if you read their forums so I quit using it. I loved the sounds and the potential but for live use it has to be dependable and unless I've missed it I haven't seen any updates on it to fix the problems some of us had/have.
I'm glad some of you haven't had these problems...

I remember there being some complaints about audiobus not being included at the beginning, but after the audiobus update, I've heard of no problems. Maybe there were other fixes with that update. I never purchased it until after it had Audiobus, so I never experienced any problems. In fact, it is the synth I use the most, and I've never had any problems with it....

Me neither/me also- never had a single glitch of any sort, and I've used it quite a bit.

So have you tried it recently Scott? Are you currently having problems with it? What exactly is happening for you? Maybe we can figure out what is going on and track down the steps needed to repeat the error (so that it can get fixed), or maybe you'll find that it is now working correctly. Either way, I'd like to know too.

---Thank you very much for the offer of help, it's appreciated. I haven't even tried it since going a couple of rounds with Arturia who first denied a problem then when others wrote in to say the same thing they said they'd look into it. Never heard back!
Some of us would see it crash on start up and the obvious thing would be having too many apps open at the same time so we made sure they were all closed out. To be honest it's been a while and I don't remember all of the details, I do remember when it worked there was this great sound coming out of it and I also remember lamenting not being able to use it.
Thanks,Scott

I honestly have never had a problem with it crashing, but again, I refused to purchase it until it had Audiobus, so the upgrade may have fixed it. Did you uninstall it and reinstall it and see if that fixed it? Also, if it hasn't been installed lately, you ought to try it again and see if the problem is fixed. Like you admit, it sounds great, so you owe it to yourself to try it out!
P.S. I'm using an iPad 2 with the latest iOS 6 version.
