I know what you mean. Im the one who had to put the whole confusing dilemma into words. (Sitting in a room so HOT you could almost grill a steak in the open air.)

Anyway, to give you/everyone the ultra-condensed version:

If you use the black skin, the following applies:

- When you select an Oscs RampUp waveform, the audio output will be RampDown.

- When you select an Oscs RampDown waveform, the audio output will be RampUp.

Everything else, i.e. modulations by LFO and Osc2, will appear to be working correctly, i.e. correspond to whats indicated on the UI.

DAW Reaper under a Wine environment in Ubuntu 10.4 doesn't recognize the synth's .dll file. Others in the same path are read though. There are no error messages. Can't install the Visual C++ 2010 runtime as recommended on Pekka's web site.

Any idea what to do except to cut out one more month?
I think you can install the VC++ redistributable? Winetricks, maybe? I had the same experience when I tried it with Wine, though... but just loaded it on my Winblows machine. :(

That's what I was gonna say, but then a little further down he says he put the dll file in the Windows folder and got it to work. I'll try it today and... you know, see what happens :?

I tried all 3 skins and the presets were the same, am I doing something wrong? I was gonna export them all so I could have all resources available to me but it looks like they are pretty much the same.

They're really nice though, it's a great sounding synth. Looking forward to making something with it.

For some reason it worked straight away for me. I may have already had the VC++ 2010 runtime installed for a game or something though, not sure

Oh, me too. :) I'm the one (at least one of the ones) who suggested this synth a long time ago, so I feel a bit obligated to participate. Although, I also suggested Sonigen and had too much stuff come up that month to finish the track. :)

I love the sound this synth can make,
but does anyone else have the problem I have with the LFO waveform not showing after closing the gui and opening again ?

Looking forward to re-entering the OSC this month.
Noooooo idea about track type just yet :pondering:
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Excellent. This has some nice drum presets too, which will make a nice starting point so I can focus more on the composition part :)

ANY/ALL skin(s)... Windows 7 64bit using Mau 32bit dll in REAPER 32bit also in FLStudio(32bit).
:-o

The LFO waves are called from left to right :

Saw,Up,Pulse,Triangle,Triangle,N/A (maybe the double triangle is the culprit ?)

N/A is the invert switch.

Going by your question you don't seem to have this problem ?

Don't seem to using Windows XP & REAPER all 32-bit. I did just download a fresh VC++ 2010 redistributable, as it seems I didn't have it.

Funny thing is that even on his home page the Steelskin GUI is not showing any active LFO on the GUI ! this is exactly what is happening to me ! http://rinki.net/pekka/mausynth/

So, I guess I hadn't actually tried this before, I'm playing around with it now... huge CPU hog but man, it sounds really good!!! I can already hear the track bjporter's going to come up with. :)

Post

The LFO switch always goes out after closing and reopening the UI.

The waveform itself remains selected but the switch always goes out.

Its one of the bugs i meant to report but forgot about.
