Hi all,

I am looking to get an IOS sequencer for sequencing midi on my ipad to use with Waldorf Nave and Sunrizer, I guess it doesn't need to have audio capabilities as I will be sending the audio out to my PC and into Reason 7.

I have looked at Nanostudio, but i am unsure if this can send out midi to Nave?

I am open to suggestions, but I'd prefer that the midi can do controller automation if possible? And to have good midi timing.

If you know of anything please let me know,
Thanks in Advance :)

Nanostudio can't do midi out. If you want your typical DAW/Piano roll midi sequencer with all the bells and whistles (like automation etc) Genome would be the only choice available I believe. Or if you want a step based sequencer (with automation etc) Thesys would be the one to get.

If you don't care about all the overhead more fully fledged DAW apps carry, apps like Beatmaker 2 can do virtual MIDI out. Probably Cubasis too, not sure on that one tho.

Beatmaker 2 definitely does

Beatmaker 2 does a good job (and you can use it to assemble the resulting audio recordings too). For pure MIDI sequencing you might also consider:

MIDI Pattern Sequencer
Genome MIDI Sequencer
Little MIDI Machine (free)
Phaedra (some nice tricks but developer seems to have checked out)

Cubasis is very good :)

Yeah i got cubasis abd both the synths u got and cubasis will do the job sweet....and the plus is that if you use audiobus aswell when u r not at ur studio u can record the audio ready to imoport into your daw when you get in.

Ive got genome aswell thats good aswell but i would fork out for cubasis and get audiobus aswell

Thank you all for the great help and advice :)

I've bought myself Beatmaker 2, just need to get to know it a bit better now, I have managed to get a sequence going and even recorded audio from nave to it while running the sequence :) It seems fine so far.

I am tempted by Cubasis, but I think I shall hold off until they implement controller automation, and hopefully a padshop style synth hehe.. not holding my breath for padshop lol :D

Thanks again, please still feel free to comment, and add your own opinions on sequencers for the Ipad as things do change over time with new releases and updates, I'm sure this thread will help others too :)

All the best
