Usually the oracles of KVR are SO accurate fortune tellers, so please enlighten me on the subject. Is it just a case of getting the exact date right + /- 200 years, you know, just like the apocalypse predicted by Jehovah's Witnesses or what's up? Surely it can't be the oracles of KVR who are wrong....right?
Don't worry. Apple needs no collaboration to kill the iPad or the iPhone. They are doing a pretty good job themselves :hihi:

It had something to do with the Mayan calendar. Microsoft apparently calculated that the world would end at december 2012, so the dominance of iPad finally would be crushed.

DAMN THE MAYANS!!

Haven't tried it myself, but a friend of mine bought one of those Win8 touch laptops and as far as I understood it it easily qualified as the worst purchase of the year. The concept obviously needs more time to mature.

OMG! Only 14.6 million units in the second quarter compared to 19.5 million in the previous quarter. And only 35,5 % of the market share. :o :-o  That must be the end of it then. What is your prognose, will it take one or two weeks before we reach the critical 0% percent?

Well, it looks like they ran crying to Mr Obama. He must have been given a bunch of freebies because he has intervened to stop the ITC from cleaning their clock - blocking imports of models found to violate Samsung's patents. Apparently, requiring Apple to license technology they appropriate is a threat to the economy.

Apple is the new General Motors it seems. What is good for Timbo and the boys is good for the US of A. How do you like them apples?

I'm running Win8 with RME Multiface. Yes i can get real latencies down to 1ms. Midi latency is under 0.5ms with jitter just around 0.05ms. So working out pretty nicely :)
How's your OS of choice doing?

And this was after they sued Samsung because they "copied" the fantastic innovation of a rectangle with round corners and a button. I couldn't imagine the world without such a fantastic "innovation" :hihi:

Yes, the Surface has not this success a lot of people expect. I read that they sold only 1,5 Mill units of the RT (or both?). But also the Pro version seems to be a slow seller.
For both devices Microsoft has lowered the prices this time but I don't think this will help a lot.

I'm not sure if it's the price, Windows 8 people don't like or because it's from the not so cool and often hated Microsoft company.

The real innovation isn't the Surface, but the Surface Pro. I said that and lot's of people said that. The Surface is just another "me too". I'm not surprised regarding Surface failure (actually, it even pleases me, because it implies that I was right from the beginning).
Of course, the Surface Pro faces some tough competition, which is GOOD, because it means that, hopefully, we'll have real good products, priced fairly, that allow us to run real applications, within a real OS.

Apparently, MS has cut Surface Pro price 100 bucks this month in the USA. Could be bigger cuts after that. Seems like the writedown on the Surface vanilla inventory was bigger than the proceeds of sales.

If Apple start making watches, they will no doubt patent a form of analog interface involving a big hand and a little hand. :hihi:

You have disclosed the secrets about Apple's success :D

Oh come on. Don't be so harsh on Apple. It does innovate a lot. They even gave us the charging port you can connect in two different ways.

Next they've come up with a one that can be connected in infinite ways (patent pending)

Well Apple isn't going away anytime soon, that's for sure.

If you want a good idea of how well each of them is really doing, look at the market confidence in them over the past 2 years in terms of their stock prices.

Both have shown growth, but with Apple having the higher rate of growth and MS having the higher level of volatility.

The only thing that will really impact either of them significantly in the short term would be some kind of economic shock. Even the bad press that MS has been getting has not had a significant impact on price, and the various lawsuits that Apple has initiated likewise.

Even if MS does start going better in comparison with Apple from the perspective of market deltas, that has little bearing on the fortunes of either in the long term.
