nope, Alex got the mix logic right - he used a pair of lookup tables to implement the mix curvesosiris wrote:A question. I don't think this is done in Alex's .ens (and I don't know if it can be done in Reaktor), but on the original, the Mix knob was to mix the detuned saws in with the original pitch saw. I think this is why some supersaw presets sound so different. Some are big and bold, some like ice. I believe the Mix knob in the .ens is just volume control for the whole oscillator, no?

Thats correct, the "Mix" controls the levels of the other 6 waveforms in relation to the centre, just like the original.jdnz wrote:nope, Alex got the mix logic right - he used a pair of lookup tables to implement the mix curvesosiris wrote:A question. A nice little trick if you are interested in seeing the curves while you use them is to select the tables within the Super Saw macro, and click the "Visible" option in the view tab.

next version - now all sorts of fun lfo routing etc possible and you can toggle oscs and the different LP filters on/off
trying desperately to find a decent dar or dadsr envelope for reaktor for the lfos (to implement juno-esque lfo delay - NI tute using an event separator and a delay on the 'on' event doesn't work for long releases and staccato notes - you end up with 'on' events arriving at the ar envelope after their corresponding 'off'
).

In SE, all you had to do was hook an ADSR before the LFO. I think the DSR were at a default of max and the Attack was used as the delay.

I think the Juno uses this sort of thing.

realised late last night Reaktor's arbitrary 4-stage envelope would do it (just set first stage to have a zero target level) - so verison with DAR on lfo's now workingosiris wrote:In SE, all you had to do was hook an ADSR before the LFO. Any chance you can hook up the pitch bend wheel? I was able to do it with one of the patches and it sounded right but I am no reaktor expert.

totally forgot about the pitch wheel (I seldom use it) - will do!!!SaganTech wrote:Any chance you can hook up the pitch bend wheel? I was able to do it with one of the patches and it sounded right but I am no reaktor expert.

Thanks Alex. I just tried the first beta yesterday and it was 40% CPU in FL. Do you think if you took out the 3 visual oscillator displays that this would help?
Also I wonder about the possibility of the other waveforms, i.e.: Triangle Mod and Feedback Osc. You couldn't do a Feedback oscillator in SE because you'd get a loopback error, but basically it's a square (I think) whereby the audio out is fed back into itself and that is the output. I don't know if Reaktor has an oscillator capable of this.
I've tried pasting the Oatsi Arp in this with not much success, but I can past the Supersaw oscillator into other .ens with arps and it sounds great!!

err - I think you mean me (you're using the 3-osc version with realtime detune displays?)osiris wrote:Thanks Alex. I just tried the first beta yesterday and it was 40% CPU in FL. Do you think if you took out the 3 visual oscillator displays that this would help?

yes, it's cpu hungry - cos with all 3 oscs running you've got 24 sawtooth oscs running per voice (and because of the way rektor handles polyphony with 8 note poly multiply that by 8 - so 192 all up).
To save cpu - disable un-used oscs (button at the top of each osc), on my system it's about 8% of a core per osc. Alternatively lower the ensemble poly setting to 4 (1/2s the cpu use), or turn off one or two of the filters (again saves about 5% of a core per filter for me). or even drop it to monopohonic (1/8 the load).
the detune displays don't use much (and with lfo's routed to detune they're handy for seeing exactly where in the detune table you're modulating to) - but if you can live without turning them off will save a bit more.
personally I'd go with lowering the poly to what's needed ( why have it running in poly mode when you're playing mono leads for example) - but I don't think there's a way for an ensemble to alter this, you have to do it manually in reaktor/reaktor player.

righto, next beta is up - pitchwheel now works, you can phase invert lfo dests, and select sq/tri/saw/sin for all oscillators (supersquare works well - supersine not so muchSaganTech wrote:Muddy Waters said and I paraphrase...

poly version (I've lowered the default polyphony to 6 in this to spare cpu a bit)
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8Pbcuh ... sp=sharing
and a version pre-set to mono mode (legato works only in that mode and easiest o cpu)

a few minor optimisations (they all help!) and a new 'poly pan' control (positions osc output based on voice #)

hopefully the final beta - added pitch envelopes, dual stereo pan controls on the filter outputs (and a filter bypassed mix level), few bug fixes (one filter had the L and R channels reversed) and some snapshots/presets

Unsure how I originally missed this thread...
in any case, thank you for posting the thread and for the Reaktor ensemble. Sounds nice!
