thanks BigCat for the acoustic piano examples
for me DimPro is very useful for the EPiano variations and upright bass as Spiritos mentions above. The quality of these alone are worth the $20 easily

I've been loving Dimension pro. It has replaced Korg Legacy M1 and ProteusVX for me. While I still find some very usable and enjoyable sound in both M1 and VX I find the B3 sounds in DimPro have become my bread and butter foundational tones.

What Dim Pro does best? 'Instruments' aka synth sounds, some solo, some with a bit of random bass and drums from Cakewalk Studio Instruments loops. Same midi clips as in piano samples.

love it, love it!
the look, the simplicity, the sounds...
very much my main "rompler sounds" go-to workhorse!

Taking a look at the much lower profile world of Upright Pianos.
Dimension Pro
Vertical Specimen
Saloon Baloon
Kontakt Factory
Upright Piano
Ragtime Piano
VSTi Upright Piano
4 Front Piano
Kontakt Free Upright Piano (converted in Kontakt)
Skerratt London Piano
Old Upright Piano
Kontakt Paid Upright Piano
Sampletekk Rain Piano
I have played with the Kontakt Upright that is sold separately and it has a nice sound and the Imperfect Samples also seems very nice. Both also quite expensive, but the logical upgrades if you need a high end upright. The Rain Piano has an interesting sound and is fun, but isn't to the same blow you away level as the SampleTekk Grands or the two uprights mentioned above.
As per the Grands, the Dim Pro sound a bit synthy and the Kontakts sound like Jr versions of real pianos. Though I gripe a bit, it should be noted that since I bought my 5 Sampletekk pianos for a shade under a hundred and considered it a great deal, Dim Pro cost about the same as one of these pianos and Kontakt cost twice as much as all five. Since DimPro has roughly 150 instruments, you are talking roughly 14 cents an instrument for passable sound and a great synth. For Kontakt with about 190 instruments for 200 bucks, that's a buck and a nickel per decent quality instrument. Try going into a music shop and asking for those prices on tradition instruments.
For free both the 4 Front Piano and the Old Upright Piano are very nice sounding. If you don't own expensive uprights, go grab them.

Acoustic Guitars if you can Handel it. A bit of Handel's Air Hwv787 as a classical test.
Dimension Pro
Martin Nylon Natural

Martin Nylon Bright
Martin Steel Natural
12 String
Kontakt
Nylon Guitar
Nylon Guitar with Cathedral Reverb, tone at 12 noon
Free Vstis
DSK AkoustiK Acoustic Guitar
DSK AkoustiK Nylon Guitar
Independence Free Acoustic Guitar
Alchemy Additive Dream Guitar
Alchemy Guitar PM Acoustic
Kontakt Free Instruments
Pettinhouse Acoustic Guitar Free
Pettinhouse Classic Guitar Free
Worra's Campfire Nylon
Flame Studios Ibanez Steel String Acoustic Guitar
Flame Studios Seagull Steel String Acoustic Guitar
Dimension Pro I believe sounds better than Kontakt in Acoustic Guitars, DimPro also has more of them. The two Pettinhouse Free instruments top both DimPro and Kontact.

I like it my only beef with it is the browser. I am hoping they come up with a modern browser in a future update. After that I would like it a lot more. A price drop would be good too because its not bad for $99 but I would rather have Sampletank for $50 more.

Old thread I know, but...
For the most part, Dimension Pro's organs are actually quite good. In fact, for my ears, better than Kontakt. Both DP and Kontakts guitars are a little lame, especially compared with Alchemy. DP's bass (especially the jazz bass's) are great. DP's leads are pretty good (Alchemy's are actually fairly lame). DP's EP's aren't good at all and lastly, the stringed instruments are a tad cheesy.
Just my 2 pennies based on my aural preferences.
