I'm not an expert, but I don't remember that tail piece before 61. I could be wrong for sure.

I've played my 57' against quite a few Surhs .. we have a local dealer. I'd never trade, but I wouldn't mind a Surh or 4 though. They are great guitars.

if I had that guitar I wouldn't give a rat's ass how it played or how it sounded...a mint 56 strat with what appears to be original documentation could be buy me a few Suhrs (though I would probably do something practical like put the money away for my daughter's education and buy a guitar made in China or wherever as long as I liked it). Though personally there are a lot more sub 500 dollar guitars that I would rather own than any Suhr...Suhr is just the new name to drop. If you cant play those sub 500 dollar guitars a Suhr aint gonna make you better. Sorry but I just dont get what is so great about them (yes I played a couple at Matt's Music when I went to try out Dr Zs), they are awesome guitars but even at half the price they are way over priced imho. I have a friend here who is terminally broke, he always dreams of a Suhr and besides having the "hot ticket" item I just dont see the justification for that kind of money...guess I'm just not a good enough guitar player to be worthy of a Les Paul, a Suhr, a USA Fender Strat etc...or maybe I am comfortable enough with my own playing to not have to have the name on my guitar do my talking for me...if that's what it is like to be rich I'm glad I aint

@Hink .. You have a lot of vitriol against custom shop guitars for some reason. Although I agree the difference between a $1000 and a $5000, is usually very cosmetic in nature, they are actually different. There is also a huge difference between the cost to factory produce stuff and small shop build stuff. The $2500->$5000 Custom Shop Gibsons are a joke to me for the reasons I think you are trying to state. But, a lot of custom guys don't follow that model.

I would also like to know what $500 guitar you think plays/sounds as good as a bottom of the line Suhr. I'd buy one on my way home. I'm not sticking up for Suhr by the way. I just think there are differences in the smaller build vendors that make the guitars a little different than the factory jobs. One of the huge differences is that I would NEVER buy a $500 guitar without playing it, and I'd probably have to try 30 or 40 to find a decent one. I'd trust someone to ship me a Suhr and have it be an excellent guitar.

Again, not arguing with you about the cost difference providing only minor differences (even fictional differences in some cases)at a certain point.

Such as?
Suhr is just the new name to drop.
It goes a bit further than that. The incredible setups, the great sounding pickups, the silent single coil system back plate, and the non-standard wirings all add up to what I personally consider to be the perfect strat. Of course, a Warmoth neck, $500 worth of parts, and a Plek job could take any good strat body to a similar level, is that what you're looking for?

I can play a sub 500 dollar guitar. Generally speaking, a better guitar does help me play better.
they are awesome guitars but even at half the price they are way over priced imho.
Sure, I'll go along with that. The Rasmus guitars were excellent cost-for-performance, they played and sounded incredible. It's too bad people couldn't get over the "Made in China" part.
I have a friend here who is terminally broke, he always dreams of a Suhr and besides having the "hot ticket" item I just dont see the justification for that kind of money...
Turn him on to Rasmus.

If you really believed there's no point in a good guitar, you wouldn't spend so much time customizing your instruments. ;)

I'd love to have a suhr. Humbucker music has the TASTIEST selection

@Quality: It's a tough call. Price does not necessarily predict guitar quality. Remember that MM I tried? I kept finding things wrong with it as time went on and it would have been the most expensive guitar I've had. My 450 Ibby is better than some of the other ones I've had including a presitge. This fender is REALLY well built btw.

It's confusing.

The main reason I don't have one of those tasty suhrs is I've never played one. This area would never have something like that that I could play.......never!

The Plek machines that Suhr and Gibson use help guarantee consistency. Suhr Plek's all their guitars (including the Rasmus's) while Gibson only Plek's the top-end stuff.

My blue Ibanez 3120 plays better than all my other Ibanez's. I really don't know why that one's so good and the other ones (including a more expensive Prestige) aren't. That 3120 and my Suhr are the two best playing guitars I've ever owned.

Looks like "my" next guitar will actually be for my wife.
She's got her eye on this, and I can't argue against it...

Although a bit OT, I'm especially sensitive to this as a coworker got plowed at a cross walk by a high school girl who was texting and ran a stop sign and kept on going ... no insurance etc... the poor guy is lucky to be alive, but will never walk right again. He's had numerous surgeries and PT which sucks big time. The chances of me texting and driving is fairly remote ... I won't even talk on the phone unless I'm synched in my car via speaker.

It's really bad around here. I mean, they don't even notice me flipping them off because they are too busy texting
