what made you move to Logic after all those years in Cubase?
I still have Cubase 7 here and Studio One installed BUT i always wanted to try Logic. So a couple of months ago i bought my first mac and at $139 i was getting a DAW for the price of a vat plugin. Always wondered about Logic so now i have and i'm well impressed as a new user. Cubase is great but the latest version 7.0.5 is diabolical IMO so i rolled it back and installed 7.0.4 which is okay on my system so well i have the choice of 3 DAWS here but i'm mainly almost in Logic now.
Only thing about logic i don't like is that it makes you download 2gb of content which i don't even want lol.

Personally i can make music in any DAW but i like a change.. i think also seeing the upgrade price of Halion 5 after being with Steinberg 22yrs made me say "f**k this" loyalty gets you nowhere haha.

So here i am in logic with all my synths and loving it mate :-)

Rob
On a Mac, for that money, it would be silly not to try it :)
Logic is a superb host and X is a great update in my opinion.
Even so, I am curious about Cubase 7 so I'm going to try out the trial version this week.
Yeah Cubase is a great DAW mate.. give it a try.. right now i'm STUCK in Logic X LOL arghhh! Been trying an hour to set up Stutter Edit here and it's not playing ball

Must be doing something wrong here, got 2 audio channels going to BUS 1 and then stuck Stutter Edit on the BUS as an insert effect... now i made a midi channel and drew some notes send that to BUS 1 and no Stutter FX playing

Okay back to trying again this is a nightmare to set up in Logic lol

I used to be a Cubase user and this is one area where Cubase is simpler, but it's still fairly easy in Logic.

You need to use the "midi controlled effects" - not obvious. Create a new software instrument track, set the insert to Stutter Edit from the "midi controlled effects" part of the pop up menu. Set the sidechain input on the stutter edit plugin window to the audio track that you're trying to stutter. You might also want to set the original audio track to no output.

Now you can just enable the stutter edit track and hit midi notes to your heart's content.

enjoy.

(edit: here's a video, it's for logic 9 but it's the same idea and most of the things are in the same place
)

For those who need a Bridge Solution for Logic Pro X, straight from Gearslutz:

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/logic-pr ... pro-x.html
Included in this Package:
- Audio Ease Bridges (Altiverb 6, Speakerphone and Cabinet)
- Lexicon Bridges
- Nexus1 Bridge
- Slate Digital FG-X Bridge
- Soundtoys Bridges
- Sonnox Bridges
- Sugar Bytes WOW Bridge
- Sylenth1 Bridge
- Vember Audio Surge Bridge

Here's what you will need:

- JBridge installed (Full Version and Demo both work)
- VST version of the plugin you want to use

Installation:
- Place component file inside Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
- Run Logic Pro X, it will come up with an error regarding loading the plugin.
- Go to the AU Manager, select the plugins and click the "Use" checkbox.
- Make an Instrument Channel. Browse to Incompatible > Volt & State/ Manufacturer > Select the preferred plugin.

*For some users it is required to copy their Lexicon VST Plug-Ins back to the default Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST directory, instead of Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/Lexicon.

It's free and works with automations. Hopefully somebody comes up with a more satisfying solution, but till then enjoy !
Theoretically we can do a bunch more plugins so if you have suggestions on which plugins you would like to see let us know !

No bridging needed here i already retired Sylenth from my collection.. a shame but i don't fancy bridging nothing here now.. anyways my Virus blows that for breakfast :D

Thanks for the tip though.

If you know how to bridge maybe you know how i name and move AUX tracks here and sort the mixer mess out??

Rob :D

I believe to need to create a track in the main window for your aux channel.

Thanks mate i'm progressing very nicely here in Logic X.. It's pretty deep for a new comer like myself but i'm finding out new tricks by the hour :-)
Had my first ever crash last night BUT the good thing was after sending the crash report and clicking reopen all my stuff was still there :-)
Logic X crashed whilst i was previewing audio files in the browser on the right (weird) that's the only crash iv'e had so far.
Another thing i'm trying to figure out today is how i edit "automation and midi" together. It seems when i click "show automation" it blanks my midi part so i can't move or edit stuff, it seems my midi clip turns in to a block until i come out of automation. I know that i could edit in place in Cubase but no big deal i'll get by doing it this way. Again £139 for this was a steal imo.. very happy so far :-)

I'm glad you're enjoying it! You know where to go if you have questions :)
I might fire some off to you once I get my eLicenser key and I can finally trial Cubase 7.

Gotta say I am loving Drummer. It's a brilliant way to get quick a result, and especially useful for auditioning sounds in context e.g. when designing new presets or working on song ideas.

Peace,
Andy.

I never tried drummer yet Andy  I'm gonna have a look at that tonight. Hmm does anyone use Izotope Alloy 2 here in Logic?

I have a problem BUT it's not all the time. Sometimes when i insert Alloy 2 on a track the VU meters are lagging terribly but only when i add more than 2 instances. The plugin still works with no crashes it just sort of lags. I'm wondering whether it's the iLOK and the fact that i have it plugged in to my keyboard which has 2 USB ports? May not be pulling enough power here from the port.
Can't see it being an MBP problem i have 16gb ram in there and ssd drives :-( Seems the only fx plugin ;agging is Alloy on the iLok all others are good.

^ I found that sometimes if I have TAL_Bassline-101 GUI open Logic's fader track outputs are laggy, not sure if it;s a kinda related GUI issue. Anyone else found that?

I do... no problem with it. I don't have it on my iLok though, I use the challenge/response system. I have other software on my iLok though and have no issue with it. It's plugged into a powered hub.

Has anyone encountered any screen/viewing issues? When I create a new session, the Logic goes off the screen, in other words, the entire window cannot fit on the screen and i have to move it constantly to get to different controls, i have tried
maximize button, etc, i'm thinking it is something simple. The preset template projects come up just fine....
