Hello,

I am looking for a book, which explains the basics of music production with the computer. For example, what are oscillators, what is portamento, tips and tricks for mastering, how do I get the perfect sound ...

Best would be, if it is about electro house/Dubstep, or in general EDM

One thing is important: Please look if the book is also available in german, because I wouldn't understand all the english technical terms.

Thank you very much !!!

I don't know if they're available in german but you should check "The Secrets of House Music Production" from SampleMagic and "The Dance Music Manual".

Thank you, I've already checked them - only in english - :(

But do you have these books? Are they easy to understand or with many technical terms?

There's a lot of pictures in the SampleMagic book. It's almost like some Computer Music Special magazines.

I think you should try Youtube. I'm sure you'll find something in german and it's free! (and you'll see and hear what's going on)

I've already done this for a hundred times, but I wanted a new book, so I thought why not a music book ;)

I think you should just get one in english and reading it with google at hand to translate what you don't get, because there are not so much technical terms and you'll be happy you learned them, because you encounter a LOT more things in english than in any other language.

Basicaly I think that there is two part in your quest, synthesis and mixing, for mixing I recommend "Mixing audio" by roey izhaki.
For the synthesis part I don't remember the one everybody allways recommend, but the other good source (to me) is SoundOnSound articles of the "Synth's secrets" serie, they are really good and free on their website.

Really, learn english, you'll be happy you did.

I'm a German, and I only have English music books (I find them easier to read than German audio books, anyway, because I couldn't do anything with a "Kuhschwanz-Filter", so I prefer a shelving filter).

One thing that you could do is to subscribe to Beat Magazin, it's German and there are always great tutorials about everything... :wink:

I would watch tutorials on youtube instead of reading a book about it. Although I have read some books on music stuff I think for good tips on dance music youtube is better.
Pigments Presets, Omnisphere Expansions, Dune, Serum, and Thorn Sound Packs. Diva, Zebra, TAL, and Repro Sound Banks. :love: Massive discounts - https://NewLoops.com

hey all, thank's first.

@tanabarbier

Yep, that's a good idea, I am quite sure that I will buy "The secrets of house music production" and a (your) book about synthesizer in english. ;)

@Tricky-Loops

I often buy the "Beat", but I want something which is really about the basics, there I only find details and tricks, which sometimes are hard to transport on my DAW because they use Ableton, Cubase ...

@faun2500

I will continue doing this aswell, especially in the "in the studio with..." are nice tips

If it won't must be german, the 2-3 books from Sample Magic would be a very good point to start.

In the german mags like BEAT, Keys and Sound&Recording are sometimes also EDM-focused walkthroughs and articles.

I bought "the secrets of house music Production" by SampleMagic.

I hope that Beat gives a price for subscribing their magazine like Ozone5 for christmas like few years ago :)
