ya, but Kim Kardashian said in "Starz" that size DOES matter...

(just think of it as preemptively preparing for 4K displays...)
OK but I just want the old gui back - I don't know why you removed it, just giving people alternative skins would have been enough. It really annoys me how the people who complained about the gui got listened too but the people who liked it in the first place were ignored. Right now it's either too small for me to see clearly or too large to fit my screen. The old one was perfect.
Don't know what you mean? The normal size GUI is still there. In B2 we have "Kontrast" and "Kontrast HD". Kontrast is 960px wide, Hd is 1920px wide.

Same basic idea in Aether too...

HD skins for Breeze won't be part of this update.

Replacing the file with the NO_AVX version gave me this:

Version 1.2.0 [b228] x64 AVX

So this version works for you, correct?

aMUSEd wrote:btw am I the only one that can't have B2 and Aether open at the same time? If I have both of them in a project (multiple hosts) and open the gui of one, as soon as I click to open the gui of the other I get a crash. Mac ML, AU.

Also the VST of Aether crashes Bidule every time I try and open even one instance.
FYI Bidule-64 is no problem in Win7-64, both work ok (though you can't completely fit both GUI's at the same time on a 30" screen, they run without crashing).

However I'm getting an immediate crash every time I instante B2 in Nuendo 5.5.6 64-bit in Win7-64:

That one seemed to be working... I think I misunderstood your instructions, which said if the Version # copy had AVX or AVx2 displayed to replace it with the NO_FMA version... should I be replacing that file by putting the NO_AVX file back in?

Not in Aether, you replaced the original gui with a smaller one. The original had gui elements roughly the same size as the standard B2 ones.

oh... ya, that was the 1.0.0 skin. That was a very long time ago. It was before I knew what I was doing (and/or had guidance) regarding GUI design. :D Cool ideas IMHO, poor execution. There were nearly riots here, remember? :help:

And most people complained about it being too big at the time. It was 960px wide. So I made a smaller one at 720px. It's a PITA to do a bunch of different sizes of 3D or semi-3D GUIs. Now we have 720px and 1440px for Aether. These are the only options for the foreseeable future, sorry. Too many other things to do. We will think about GUI again whenever we get to Aether 2.0.

My crystal ball tells me 4K displays (3840px wide at least) will start showing up and becoming semi-mainstream for content creators in 2014. So the new HD skins will be perfect then.

yes. that was correct for our information purposes.

...but now that you/we know which one works for you and which does not, you should switch back to the one that works, yes.

The original contains all of these, and is supposed to detect your CPU and use the appropriate version... but seemingly it fails with some CPUs. How and why is what we are trying to figure out, so we can have the auto-detection working perfectly for all CPUs...

So the information you provided was helpful, thanks. Anyone else who experienced this, please tell us the same info, even if it is the same as what someone else already wrote. Thanks.

... Cool... I'm with you now!

Glad the info helped.

Hey Andrew,

Mine worked with the no AVX version. I tried both (started with the no FMA, which did not work). I'll respond in email too.

:-o That's Big! :hihi:

Please note, I'm a fan of this. I don't even need to put the glasses on, works great on the 27" monitor (res of 2560 x 1440).

Pffft, this is nothing, you gave up on the 50 shades of pink & purple by 1.0 release already :P

Well your GUIs are certainly among the best now. I for one am glad for the change in Aether skin. Currently is quite beautiful! As are the others.

Yes I do remember, there was a bunch or people complaining loudly that drowned out the few of us that liked the skin (and said so, including myself) - I understand how it must have seemed like you made a mistake but this is a very beautiful skin and it would have been nice if you'd listened to us too instead of just reacting to the noise. Sometimes people that complain seem like the majority when in fact they are just more vocal, the fact is there was already an option for the smaller skin size anyway so there was no need to take out the larger one. 960px wide was a perfect size.

I don't care that 4K monitors may become available soon - they will not be affordable for many years. In the meantime I'm left with a gui that I don't find comfortable to use, I waited patiently for you to bring back the large gui, which is what I thought you were doing, but was surprised that you made it so large - it seems like you have gone from one extreme to another in a reactive way rather than actually listening to your customers.

Actually all it needs is for the graphics to be the same size as they are on B2 rather than so tiny and cramped.
