There are a few but I think you need at least 2 for samples and VST's.
-Universal Patchfinder
-BigTick Zen
-Sample Librarian
The first 2 are developed by members of KVR so you can find some threads about it here.

A spreadsheet or a simple text file might suffice ..
I don't use it for managing bought products, but I manage various projects of my own with something called Notecase. http://notecase.sourceforge.net/index1.html It's old and steady piece of GPL software and the development is continued in a commercial spin-off (link at the site - it's a bit more advanced than the original Notecase).
Tree hierarchies are what I like most in it ..
edit: oops, not GPL but BSD, for what it's worth.

I use: http://www.collectorz.com/?from=google& ... tAodTkIAiA
for managing my movies. Although these databases are designed toward music, books, games etc. they're highly customisable and thus can be adjusted to fit your specific needs. Plus there are connectable apps for you phone.
I personally love it. Lots of support and they have regular discounts.
It might be a little too much for your needs but with it you can store as much info as you could possibly want and search on infinite parameters.
Might be worth a look.

TablePro, the best of its kind, uses csv format + a directive file for formatting and behavior of cells (can run paths, execute files from cells and has very advanced search tools with boolean operators, etc). I made a database of my 11.000+ free vsts collection with it which took about three months with the additional help of a spreadsheet program and a text editor.

or
Last shareware version: http://classic-web.archive.org/web/2007 ... blePro.zip
The last shareware has no functional limitation or nag screen and doesn't expire, it is actually currently free from the author's current website but only in Russian.

That just renders me speechless.. I know I have several thousand plugins, and I'm still a newbie in vst-archeology, but over 11,000.. in a well formatted database..
All
Now use them in a single project, will you!

Here is another one. They have a free version too with some limitation as usual. I haven't tried this yet but planning to. My need is not urgent as I have only a handful of plugins so for now the list is in my head
. I had tried their CATRaxx program long time back for my MP3 collection and I did like it. If you try it before me then please share your experience in this thread.
A brief description from their website:
The pro version has this interesting feature:
A brief description from their website:
Link: http://www.fnprg.com/softcat/index.htmlSoftCAT is a powerful database program designed to help you organize your software inventory. Not only will SoftCAT help you know what you have and where it is, but it will also help you keep track of important information like serial number, registration name, and other registration information. You never know when you NEED this information!
The pro version has this interesting feature:
Auto catalog: Will search your computer for installed programs and automatically add the programs to the database (title, version, publisher, icon, installation folder, installation date and program file).

I just use an Excel document for that with three sheets : Vsti, Vst, and libraries.
I have 4 criterias columns, and well, I can do with that, even if it lacks the power of relational database. Truth is that I dont have a lot of plug-ins, and each plug I have I use extensively and therefore know what it can do for me, or .... never reinstall some when I change the computers.
Actually my secret weapon is more in my email database. I have separate folders for each brand, and all the infos for my plugs.

That there SoftCat seems like rocket science to me. I use MS Works Spreadsheet on XP and Excel Starter on Win7. Tried google online docs and zoho but now fixed online with EditGrid. I've been putting an A-Z together and hopefully it will be out to mark 2,000,000 views to the old gems thread which stands at 1,971,704 at this moment.

To make a list of what's where and where's what as far as archived stuff goes, I use good old WhereIsIt, which basically scans a volume and makes it's own list/database. I have several catalogs some with individual volumes, some others combine several ones into a bigger one, which gives me options for whenever I want to search for something. It's quick and easy to scan and update, so it's running pretty much 24/7. There's a freeware/open source alternative called 'Virtual Volumes View', but as much as I try to use free/open source only, WhereIsIt (older 3.x version with no bloat) it's just too kickass IMO
For a simpler/quicker way I use a list plugin for Total Commander. This will make a .lst file of a folder or volume and it will let me browse/search/'sync' as it were a virtual volume of sorts. It will fool any other TC plugin into thinking it's a real volume, so it can come in handy at random situations.
There's a nice freebie called Karen's Directory Printer that can add all kinds of info and attributes to a file list.
For my lossless CD and vinyl backups on DVD-Rs, I make a spreadsheet, probably similar to what some of you guys here are doing. Either Open Office, Gnumeric or this super old and light (~1.4MB) one called Spread32.
Also XAMPP comes with a PHP/MySQL example called CD Collection (I think) which I've been meaning to edit to my needs. I'd be nice to have an HTML page with a form that you fill and store it as SQL, so hopefully I can hack it nicely someday.
Notecase looks like could be useful too. There's also a similar one called The Guide which I use for random notes, and it doesn't need GTK.
TablePro looks cool too
Sorry if I'm rambling
