Got another B2/Host crash changing presets: Nunedo 5.5.6 x64, 2 instances of B2 in the project, while changing presets with ultra long tails on one of them. Version 1.2.0 [B229] x64 AVX. FYI...

1. 64-bit B2 in 64-bit host in W7-64.Galbanum wrote:32 or 64-bit?Breeze wrote:Got another B2/Host crash changing presets: Nunedo 5.5.6 x64, 2 instances of B2 in the project, while changing presets with ultra long tails on one of them. Version 1.2.0 [B229] x64 AVX. FYI...

2. Do you want me to report these incidences directly to support instead of here?
3. Which crash logs, and where would they be located?
4. The crash involves B2 freezing, the GUI freezing, but playback and audio processing continuing; I can only take this down by killing the host in Task Manager. I'm not sure a log gets written und these circumstances.

What's up the white message entry box here now??
eyeballs go like:
dark grey is the new white! And dark blue was fine too...
I am getting old? Am I becoming resistant to change?? Is this how it all begins?
I had better go jogging or do some yoga now and have a protein shake...

New build:
B2 1.2.0b 230
Changes:
1) AAX is now properly signed. PT 10/11 Win/OSX 32/64. Check it out! Hit it hard, and tell us what you find.
2) Sneaky little persistent bug that could (rarely) cause crashes when changing presets in rapid fire, smashed/eradicated/obliterated. (Please don't prove us wrong...
actually please DO prove us wrong if you can so we can attack it some more if needed.
)

That should be a routine at any age!Galbanum wrote:I had better go jogging or do some yoga now and have a protein shake...
Good news! B2 [B230] seems rock solid now during preset changes. At least it didn't explode in the preset switch-fest I just indulged in. Phew!
I'm sure you know this: the values boxes next to the sliders are empty until you touch the sliders.
And the GUI still turns white for a second on my system when Aether and B2 are opened in HD mode. Is this a function of the graphics card and would a better one help?

No, we don't know. Is the "show values" pref set to "while tracking" perhaps?Breeze wrote: I'm sure you know this: the values boxes next to the sliders are empty until you touch the sliders.
It's just a huge GUI so it takes a moment to load. Maybe a faster HD/SSD, maybe a faster video card would help some, IDK... I have a SSD and a good video card on my Win System and I still see it. Doesn't happen on OSX--on a slower HD and older video card... I'm gonna file this one under "don't ask, don't tell" as it does not really harm anything.Breeze wrote:And the GUI still turns white for a second on my system when Aether and B2 are opened in HD mode. Duh... Although IMO that's a weird option... were they distracting to someone?Galbanum wrote:No, we don't know. Is the "show values" pref set to "while tracking" perhaps?
I agree, no big deal. It must years of watching GUIs turn white when DAWs and Plugins crash that causes a sliver of a freakout every time I see it. Any chance the white could easily be black?Galbanum wrote:I'm gonna file this one under "don't ask, don't tell" as it does not really harm anything.

From a purely aesthetic point of view I think the GUI's look better without the numerical displays. And yes, there is a functional purpose, the philosophy of which is described as such in the manual:Breeze wrote:Duh... Although IMO that's a weird option... were they distracting to someone?Galbanum wrote:No, we don't know. Is the "show values" pref set to "while tracking" perhaps?
additionally it is similar to part of the rational of having A and B preset states:The Display Values preference allows you to control how and when the numerical values of each knob are displayed. Changes to this preference take place immediately. This preference has three options:
• Always: Numerical values are displayed on all knobs at all times—the default behavior
• Never: Numerical values are never displayed on any knob unless the knob is in Text Entry mode. This mode is designed to force users to use their ears when adjusting parameters instead of relying on using their eyes, mind,
and numerical affinity.
• While Tracking: Numerical values are displayed only on the knob which is actively being changed by the user.
This mode provides a minimalist GUI aesthetic while still communicating the relevant numerical feedback when it is needed.
Blind listening tests: oftentimes engineers succumb to the weakness of using their eyes or minds more than their ears, and particular numerical values or aesthetic GUI settings are chosen over simple listening preference. Blind listening tests can cure this problem. This can be accomplished by saving two different presets in State A and State B, closing your eyes, and clicking an unknown number of times on the Active State button such that you no longer know if you are using State A or State B. At this point keep your eyes closed and listen critically while you slowly cycle back and forth between settings while comparing the results with your ears only. Once you have chosen the State that sounds the best, open your eyes and look at your selection. Repeat this process for confirmation if desired. This is a powerful technique.
We don't control it... be glad. we might be tempted to make it pink/magenta! or pure cyan!Breeze wrote:I agree, no big deal. What are the latests updates or am I a little premature, was reading the Breezse thread.
Are these the latest or newer to come? :

B2 1.2.0b : 08/14/2013
Breeze 1.2.0b : 03/18/2013

Just gave the "230" build a go and it's also rock solid here.
I tried breaking it via quick preset changes, and after going through the whole preset bank multiple times, still not a single crash.
I only tested the AU plug on OSX 10.8.4 in Live 9.0.5
Oh... no flashes in GUI display (in HD mode) as reported Breeze. I tried switching back and forth and still works/displays correctly. 8)

Hi Guys,
There was a quick fix of a couple AAX GUI issues made. I have updated the installer online. You can re-download if you are using AAX and re-run the installer.
If you are using AAX please state your experiences here. Even if it is "all good". We could use more feedback from AAX users.
This is hopefully the last week of this update cycle for all products. Aether and Breeze are uploading as we speak as well. I am out of the office this week, but I am checking email and forums a few times per day. Denis is in the office working and will repond to anything you guys find with quick fixes. At this point we believe our work is done for this update cycle. Please try all of our products that you own this week and let us know if you discover anything remaining. Speak now or forever hold your peace.
If nothing major is found this week, the final official updates will be released the first week of September along with the four new B2 preset expansions.
