What do you mean by "patch" here?
The "Save" button lets you save out your own user settings and the "Load" button lets you load saved settings back in. However, these are not saved into the .FXP/FXB/Host project as far as I can tell.
(I've given in and I just use "Default" with some host effects to "fix" it.)

Compyfox, according to the manual they used no EQ during the recording.
Some info from the manual:
The only downside for me too was no multiout in Kontakt Player 5. You can go around this though by opening more than one instance of the plugin.
Some info from the manual:
In addition to above there is mixer presets for different styles and 1300 MIDI beats. I have to say it's dang impressive for a freebie and beats many commercial sampled drumkits.DrumMic'a! was designed to emulate a controlled studio environment in order to experience and compare a selection of high-class Sennheiser and Georg Neumann microphone models. It provides orientation in one of the most complex areas of sound engineering and offers recommendations in mic selection and placement as well as in post recording processing.
Choice of microphones: 15 different types of microphones by Sennheiser und Georg Neumann Berlin miking 9 different parts of a drum-kit.
We recorded 25 velocity layers as well as 6 "Round Robin" takes to reproduce a lively and authentic sound of the DrumMic'a!.
Mixing Desk: Solid State Logic SL 4064 E Recorded with ProTools I Conversion: Digidesign 192 I/O
The recordings were made in 24 bit linear without the use of any compressors filters or other sound processing gear. We did this to achieve an unbiased comparison of microphone models and positioning. This gives the user every opportunity during post processing. The session was recorded on a WAHAN Acrylic-Set with SABIAN cymbals and hi-hats.
For DrumMic'a! a top-of-the-range Wahan drum-kit was recorded by professional sound engineers, musicians and producers. The drums were miked in extensive fashion with up 4 alternative microphones (stereo pairs as overheads) in each position. The following positions were recorded.
HiHat (top angled)· Snare (top)· Snare (bottom)· One microphone for each of the three toms (top)· Bass Drum (inside)· Bass Drum (outside) Overheads (2 stereo pairs in AB, 2 stereo pairs in XY)
To mike up the drum-kit an extensive selection of microphones from the Sennheiser und Neumann. Berlin portfolio were used. The selection contains microphone classics such as the famous Neumann U 87, the Sennheiser MD 421 and MD 441. New technical innovations like the digital Neumann D-01 as well as the Sennheiser evolution drum microphones which are commonly used in live music were used as well. With all this, Drum Mic'a! offers the unique opportunity to experience a virtual drum-kit and interactively experiment with equipment worth several tens-of-thousands of Euros.
The only downside for me too was no multiout in Kontakt Player 5. You can go around this though by opening more than one instance of the plugin.

Not sure exactly what you mean but in Reaper the plugin settings get saved with the project. What host are you using?pljones wrote:What do you mean by "patch" here?

You don't have to be online to use the library...
So, just install the library on your hard drive, then copy it to a DVD if you need a personal backup - it will fit on a DVD (the download is over 5 GB because of Mac Kontakt Player installer, I suspect).

Hm... thanks for the reminder, Tubeman.
a) the SSL 4064 E is not necessarily a clean console, it come with a certain sonic fingerprint (reason why a lot of people are so high and mighty about SSL plugins!). Unless that console was modified to be more clean.
b) I think the trick really lies in the microphone placement then. Just one cm off and all can fall apart. Yes, I miced a lot of drumsets myself already (and I am certainly no wizard on that behalf), but a proper microphone placement does indeed save you from overusing EQ.
c) Acrylic sets usually sound more "punchy" than wooden sets as well. At least to my experience.
Either way, outstanding work for free indeed.
And diving into the presets gives you tons of usable hints for other drumsets with just a transient designer and a 4 band EQ.
So this set does actually more:
1) presentation of Sennheiser and Neumann (Berlin) Microphones
2) offering you a free sampleset
3) education
4) instant gratification (with the presets and the loops)
A win situation for everyone. Even with the limited Kontakt 5 Player.

Youre saying the installed lib is self contained in one folder, able to be burned to dvd for backup?EvilDragon wrote:So, just install the library on your hard drive, then copy it to a DVD if you need a personal backup - it will fit on a DVD (the download is over 5 GB because of Mac Kontakt Player installer, I suspect).

The library will fit on a DVD but it won't be installable from the DVD you write it to, of course. You will still need the installer in case of disaster leaving your computer wiped. Get the official DVD.

Reaper and it's definitely not saving. If I switch from "Default" to one of the other settings, save the project, exit, restart and load the project, it's back to "Default". Indeed, if I change to drummer viewpoint in "Default", switch to one of the other settings, then back to "Default", it's forgotten my change to "Default". I'll double-check it's properly registered (i.e. not running in demo mode or something) next time I'm at my music PC.Tubeman wrote:Not sure exactly what you mean but in Reaper the plugin settings get saved with the project. Kontakt Player libraries are always self-contained in just one library folder - so you don't really need an installer for them. You will need the installer for Service Center, though, but that's a free download from NI site.pljones wrote:The library will fit on a DVD but it won't be installable from the DVD you write it to, of course.
Registration has nothing to do with it, this is a scripting issue - the preset itself IS loaded on start, but the label displaying the preset name (and View) is not correctly recalled. (And man, the scripting is awful on this one, the same things could be done in at least twice less lines! The script has 43000 lines! So inefficient...)pljones wrote:Reaper and it's definitely not saving. I tested this today and in addition to the preset name not being recalled some of the settings do not get saved like kick and toms. When reloading the project, everything except the preset name looks the same in the plugin; eq, compression, transient, mics etc. but the kick, toms and some cymbals sound different. I selected "Funk 1" preset via the plugin preset arrows and tried to save and reload it by the plugin "save" button (.nka), as Reaper's User Preset (.rpl) and as Kontakt's Multi (.nkm). None of these recall the kick and tom settings and some cymbals correctly. It seems the only way to recall the presets in the plugin is to manually click the plugin arrows and select from there.EvilDragon wrote:Registration has nothing to do with it, this is a scripting issue - the preset itself IS loaded on start, but the label displaying the preset name (and View) is not correctly recalled. This seems like it could be a Kontakt Player bug?
