The included plugins (old ones) look terrible on my retina screen here. The new ones are just fine though. Maybe they need to revamp the GUI's on the older ones cause they're still top notch plugins imo

I think it is inevitable that they will be revisited in some fashion, although it might just be that they make a new plugin that uses the same engine (see: Retro Synth - it's just ES2 with a different UI, but it makes all the difference in the world).

And yes, they are top notch. I could happily make plenty of music with just the stock Logic plugins/sound libraries. Couldn't say the same about Cubase - not even close.

I feel the same way about the included instruments and effects inside Logic. I mean i could and probably will just end up using them in future The ES2 and Mono Synth are really cool and so is Ultrabeat. I feel quite at home with this daw and iv'e only just started using it a couple of months ago in LP9.

Cubase is great as daw and so is the Retrologue and Padshop but the others on offer are to be honest a bit of a let down for me.

I will soon see how Logic works with hardware synths as iv'e never tried yet but will set up stuff next week.

The ES2 and Retro Synth are completely different synths. ES2 has three oscillators, 2 filters, vectors, a crazy modulation matrix, etc. Not sure why you would think that they're the same synths with different skins... They're quite different actually!

Sure, I can make a sound right now on the ES2 using 3 oscillators and 2 filters, including the vectors that you couldn't make on retro synth because some of the features aren't there. They may share the same filter and oscillator algorithms, but ES2 has more features that retro synth simply doesn't have. It's like comparing a DX7 to FM8. I can pretty much make any sound in FM8 that I can make on the DX7 but not the other way around, hence they're different synths.

I guess my point was that retro synth is not just like the ES2 with a different GUI. Then again, I don't even know why I care so much about this. Both are fun synths hehehe, retro is definitely easier to program!

That is quite a list of fixes, wonderful to see. I'm glad they took the time to test them all without making us wait for the initial release! This sort of attention to detail bodes well for the future of Logic.

As a user still fairly new to Logic, I'm wondering if any of these fixes hit areas that have been bothering users for a long time, or if most of them are affecting primarily new features and code.

Getting really pissed of here for the first time ever in LPX.. i have a good track going here all was fine then

1. I delete an audio file (a simple kick)
2. a sort of beachball keeps turning forcing me to quit

WTF is this? Then it asks on opening if i want to open last "autosaved" so i open and the i try and delete the kick again and another freeze??? What's happening here? This only happens when i want to delete a file on the timeline but it seems i can't even delete the track in question now.

Anyone cause this is pissing me right off here i was making great progress.

Now another whilst just copying audio on the timeline.. so now i'm doing more stuff in LOGIC X and the serious stuff is starting to appear. It's not down to any plugins this has to do with audio files crashing the daw.

Look i'm getting these as soon as i try anything with samples in the project no matter if i start a new project or not.

You could be having some disk problems there.

Crashes are happening almost every session with 10.0.2 this never happened in previous versions, becoming a pain here and i really like this daw but sick of having to sort out problems which the beta testers never nailed down before releasing.

Anyways another boot and see how long i last this time pffff

Sorry to hear your having troubles Rob. I don't know if it'll help but have you tried repairing Disk Permissions?

Go to Apps - Utilities - Disk Utility - select the hard drive & hit "Repair Disk Permissions" when done reboot for good measure.


It's possible that whatever changes have been made in 10.0.2 aren't gelling well with the Virus plugin, I was getting crashes with Amplitube 3 until the recent update from IK. I'm a new convert to Logic myself (OSX in general which I'm a lot more comfortable with than I ever was with Windows) & apart from a few bugs here & there (which is probably to be expected in a new release) I'm really loving it. I feel much more at home with Logic than most other DAWs I've tried/own (S1, Reaper, Cubase....still have a soft spot for Reaper) apart from Ableton Live which I find perfect for Electronic music composition...mixing not so much. Anyway sorry for waffling , hope you get sorted soon Rob.

Hi mate,

I just did that before with the disk permissions so i'll try again and see what happens. As for the problem with the deleting audio etc all i did was re save the project under a different name and delete the old one. Don't know why but it just worked i could then delete the audio files too. All is good but the Virus so now i'll try again after repairing the disk permissions.

I am loving LPX but the plugins issue is stopping me dead here we'll see what happens when i try again after coffee

OK I've had a quick look at specs of the Access Virus plugin, it looks like it's Multi timbral / Multi-output. There is a bug introduced in 10.0.2 that affects a lot of Multi-output plugins, bypassing them can instantly crash Logic 10.0.2. As far as I know Apple are aware of it & a fix will hopefully coming soon.
