The plugins? You don't _have_ to buy'em, although it is kinda hard to resist with with companies like FabFilter, PSPaudioware etc with those low prices. But it works just like any regular computer DAW in that you can buy products from third party companies for your DAW, or just use the included tools and plugins. The updates have so far been completely free.dixie237 wrote:That's where the cost is reallyCutlunch wrote:no half price updates or plugins though![]()

So I bought this thinking I might use it live, because the WIST feaure will let me run a backup in sync. Quickly tried it last night and it works preety well (turned off one and the other kept going, jst what I needed!). Gotta load up some songs and see the best way to quickly load songs.
Anyone using this live?

In the manual there's a brutally honest blurb about how to best use WIST, basically to the effect of one machine (probably the slave) will be a few ms behind the other. The good news is that it's consistent so you can easily move them into place after the initial tracking session.
Sounds like WIST is not accurate enough for critical live timing.

I think I can live with a few milliseconds, considering the alternative if the master dies is no audio at all. And also I still have quickly to turn on the mixer channel on that backup anyway (unless I spring for one of those auto switching units...not cheap). I'm wondering though about interference on the set/stage since it uses bluetooth.

Ya know, considering the very comprehensive channelstrip and Busspressor, not to mention the bread and butter effects like reverb, delay, saturation, chorus, this is a complete package for most people. I don't think most of us need 5 flavors of compression.chris1a wrote:The plugins? The only effect I have no experience with are the filters so I don't know how important those are to a day-to-day mix.
