Okay. So many things have changed since the last time I participated.

I have a suggestion to Rob. I don't look at the voting thread before I decide my votes because I don't want to be influenced by other people's opinions. And I think some other people must have been doing the same thing. So I think it would be great if you could post how we are supposed to vote in the gossip thread, too. Thanks.

Not completely sure how you mean this, but if you mean how are we supposed to vote; well I think we each have our own different ways.

For me in this month, since its a free for all I tend to look more for structures, arrangements and production qualitiy. Cramming a full song in only two minutes is hard but quite doable and that is my first criteria, after that it is more personal taste (although I try to keep that away from the voting). I guess if you'd ask each and everyone of us how they would vote you'd probably end up with 50 different views and approaches.

I'd suggest to listen to all the tunes, rate them for yourself or use deduction untill you are left with ten entries. Put them in order and you got your vote in front of you

The Radio link here certainly helps. I used this to load all url's to WinAmp, and from there deleted tracks untill I was left with ten tunes

@earthtones - glad I made it up the rankings on the second listen The ebow is an insidious device, it sneaks it's way into your consciousness when you least expect

I like the top 10 idea this month too - especially given that we had 50+ entries. I enjoyed listening to and reviewing all of them - it would have been a shame to give props to only 5.

Maybe in future there should be a top X vote where
X=Y/5
and Y is the number of submissions.

That way the total time spent to listen to the entries (Z) would be
Z=TY
Where T is the average entry time duration.

Naturally to calculate T we would need to use this formula
T=W/Y
where W is the total time duration of all entries.

Oh no, hold on - that means that Z=W and T is redundant. Or.......

Thanx for the review. I'm very curious as to what genre you put this in. For me it was an excercise that I thought became musically interesting, but I didn't try to do a genre.

I don't regret listening to it. It was one of the few that I could remember instantly when I saw your post.

I called it Teutonic because it reminded me of the stuff I hear on the Reaktor site, specifically the German minimal noise-techno acts (their names often start with Klang....like klangforschungszentrum) as well as some Detroit artists that perform on German labels (Kero springs to mind). Good stuff...

I checked the last post, but there was no description?? And thanks Mystahr. Garret has told me we're voting for 10 songs, so I now know what to do. But I wouldn't have known that if he hadn't (we used to vote for 5 songs). That was my concern. I think a lot of people choose not to look at the voting thread before they vote, so I think it makes sense to describe voting details somewhere else.

Visa Tipani -- ...Not sold on the new age lead lines, just a pet peeve of mine (I wouldn't like them done by anyone)...

Guess I touched a nerve. On second listen, that is a really great track. Still, the line that comes in at 0:59 (I think you said it was done on Hydra) reminds me slightly of a Deep Forest melody and sound. It actually does fit the track very well, but on first listen it jumped out at me like "what the hell is that?".

I really like tracks that take a few listens to understand (and this is one), but don't have that luxury when listening to 52 tracks in a row! I'm sure you know what I mean.

I think voting should be secret, thru PM's...

If i need to compliment someone for his/her song I do it in the gossip anyway...

I prefer to vote for the songs freely, whereas thinking of the people that voted for me makes me a bit (just a bit, though...) biased towards them... ( aint I a nice guy )

Fortunately, as I was the first voter I can claim to be the most impartial voter of you all!

Seriously, though - I think most people were building their favourites list long before voting started. And you could say that reviews could influence the voting too.

The closed vote would mean more suspense, though. In thar respect I'm all for it.
