VST adapter for DirectX

From experience, does anyone know which adapter is the best?
Fxpansion - Vst - Dx Adapter
Tonewise - Directixer
Cakewalk - Vst Adapter
Does it matter?
Host application is Sonar 3.11. on W2K.
It appears that when I use the one from Cakewalk my system seems to be less stable. I recently tried the demo from tonewise and Sonar now appears to be very stable.
When I say stability, it stems from an error message that I get when I use VST instruments in Sonar and I get "Sonar.exe, sonar will now shut down" errors.

The FXpansion adaptor was sold to Cakewalk, so no longer exists as an FXpansion product. I have approximately 250 plugins, and dont have the problem your describing.
Which plugins are you trying to insert, and how? Have you got the latest version of the Cakewalk adaptor? (v4.4) Have you tried a full reset-and-rescan of the adaptor?

I have version 4.4 for the adapter and version 3.11 for Sonar.
I have reset, rescanned, I've also removed the AUD file in Sonar to reset everything. Still nothing.
The plugins that I use are Artist drums, Slayer2 with revalver, Kontakt.

I'm beta-testing a VSTI, and the developer mentioned some issues with the Cakewalk adapter. I am using Sonar 2.2 with DirectIXer and didn't have any problems.
I'm going to upgrade to Sonar 3.1 soon, so I'll have both. On a practical basis, I suspect there won't be a lot of new development on DirectIXer, since both Sonar and P5 ship with the CW adapter... but if you're serious about Sonar, it probably wouldn't hurt to have both, as I've read other people's "Plug-in X works in A but not B" posts.

Hmmm, strange. Of those you mention, Ive never had a problem with Slayer2 or Revalver. Not tried the others, but Artist Drums is based on Kompact isnt it? Have you got them updated as well?
Generally, NI plugins work better as wrapped VSTs than DXi's, but you might want to try the DXi version anyway. Generally though, I havent seen many folks report problems with Kontakt.
Also, Ive seen one or two 'mysterious' problems cured with a Sonar reinstall, so thats always another (slightly more drastic) option.

Well, it's not vstI to dxI. (Just effects, not instruments.)Aktion wrote:SpinAudio also have VST to DX adapter so you welcome to check it.
