me too
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

That's quite a bit of win! My strat I picked up a couple months ago is such a finely built specimen I hardly play any of the others.

Maybe this with the abalone block inlays and zebra pups. It's significantly less expensive than with all that flamed top extra.

G&L Guitars are the best (look at Alice In Chains\Jerry Cantrell!!!)

Also the Gibson Les Paul Standard... ;-)

They finally started making exactly what I've always wanted, a new guitar that's just like a brand new classic. (Not all "reliced" up -- I hate that!) They re-measured and re-tooled everything for this new AV series that came out in 2012, bringing it back to as close to period correct as can be. Thank you Fender for reading my mind!

I imagine it'll be a while before I can afford one though, they're not cheap. I might wait a few years for them to start showing up on the used market. And I recently picked up a nice, used FSR Tele, so I'm kind of all guitared out for the time being. But still, that Strat is next. (At least for electrics. I could see picking up an acoustic sooner as the one I currently own is garbage.)

Here's my new (to me) Tele. 2007 FSR '62 Thin Skin w. Glendale compensated brass saddles (I'd highly recommend this mod. Perfect intonation with vintage looks.) It's just like a '62 Tele except it's got the more modern 9.5" fretboard radius (vs. 7.25") and slightly fatter frets. It's my first nitrocellulose lacquered guitar, I'm looking forward to it continuing to age. (It's already got little hairline cracks radiating from the neck plate screw holes, and that chip the original owner took out of the top corner of the body. I have no problem with either! Bring it on!)

I call it, "The Colonel". I'll let you guess why. :)

I'm considering a tele. Will probably be this though

Would match my strat and has the contoured heel I'll probably order that carvin first though. Well see. Gonna clear out the ibbys I think.

Ah, the modern kind. That's cool, but after owning a 2004 A.S.S. (American Series Strat) I found myself wanting a purely vintage one, so I parted with it a few years ago and haven't missed it that badly. Modern improvements to the bridge, neck and electronics are nice and certainly make sense, but my heroes of the '50s and '60s and early '70s managed without them and I want to share that experience as close as I can. (Yes, it's a bit of a fetish. ;) )

This Tele of mine is close to pure vintage, except for the modern neck specs. But sound-wise, it's totally vintage. I've got Fender Vintage Noiseless (there's an oxymoron for you) pickups in my old Squier Strat and I'm not crazy about them. I'd rather have tone and a bit of hum. I haven't tried the N3's, but imagine they're similar. I feel the same about "S1" switching. I just don't need it.

Still, to each his own. Tele makes a great platform for a hardtail, whichever way you go. The other thing that really surprised me about the Tele was how comfortable and stable it was. Strat seems to want to swing around on its strap on you, but the Tele just remains locked in place like it's a stiff part of your body. ;) Being a Strat-guy for most of my life, I wouldn't have guessed that.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a fantastic looking guitar?

Nope, looks awesome
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

There is a 10 day try out on "in stock" models.

I'd definitely allow myself to be caught dead with that. ;)

I'm tempted. I dunno about walnut though. Was kinda looking forward to a mahogany guitar but this is gorgeous, and would give we a taste of Carvin w/o the 8 week wait for quite a bit less. Again, 10 day trail from delivered date.

At the very least it's got me thinking about the NIN with side dots only. I think I mostly just use the side dots anyways.

It looks very nice mate and even if the tone woods used are not the one's you would go for it still would give you a pretty good idea of how it all feels and plays

If I were in your shoes I'd have it for the 10 day trail to test the waters FWIW

Best Chris and do it :D
