(Note: the download sounds *much* better on this one, SoundCloud kinda mangled it)
Finally finished an OSC entry longer than 3 minutes! My past entries have a lot of "I wish it was longer" comments at the end - so I expect this one to have some "I wish it was shorter"s.
It's a psy trance track - been trying to learn and dig into that genre lately. I designed most of the sounds - the rest are heavily mangled presets.
Made using FL Studio 11.
21 instances of MauSynth.
FX are:
Fruity Parametric EQ (x2)
Fruity Limiter (x3)
Soundgoodizer (x1)
Fruity Delay Bank (x9)
Fruity Reeverb 2 (x1)

Hi all
Back after a few months break
MauSynth was great, have tried to go for a less obvious style this time with a retro Prog Rock style piece
Doc Jon - Within These Walls
https://soundcloud.com/docjon/doc-jon-w ... hese-walls
Host - Cubase 6.5
14 instances of MauSynth, mix of tweaked presets and original patches
Host EQ, Compressor, Stereo Delay, Reverb, Autopan, Stereo Enhancer and Limiter on the individual tracks
Host Multiband Compressor, Maximizer and Limiter on main output, Voxengo Span keeping an eye on everything
Dynamic Range 11
Project file here http://www.doctors.net.uk/DocStore/DSVi ... n=download
(Edit - for reasons I cannot explain Cubase does not seem to save the state of the AutoLFO Midi modifier applied to the Wurli patch in the project file, and loads it on 'Max' setting, so it sounds totally off unless you open the Midi modifier and move the value slider which then applies it correctly to the sound)
Enjoy!
Now to try and get my head round this new scoring system

I actually found a month very limiting given the amount of time I have for music, but mausynth was fun so I pushed what I had out. It's meant to be sort of electro, but back before electro was mainstreamed as part of EDM. Anyway. I had technical issues in several DAWs before settling on Studio One, which I ended up buying as I was sufficiently impressed. SO:
DAW: Studio One Professional X64 Demo
Mausynth Instances: 10
FX:
AudioDamage RoughRider x64 to tech up the kick
S1 Tricomp and Limiter on the hats
S1 Compressor (3 instances) for sidechain compression on the sub and the modulated bass, and to crank up the initial bassline
S1 Multiband Dynamics and Pro EQ from a packaged chain on the lead for sharpness

I scrapped the track I was working on about halfway through the month, so this is my second attempt. It is somewhat Burial-inspired.

At first, I went with a more layered drum track with a bit of an Afro-Caribbean vibe and a sparse melodic and harmonic approach, but it ended up being more harmony-driven than I had originally intended. Still, I like how that blend turned out.

I think your instincts are right - it just needs another thing. Maybe backwards sounds. Or in this case - the slow / devolving 8-bit computer sound that Mausynth does well. There's an 8-bittiness with your track that I think you could go with. Weed out all the sounds in Mausynth that are 8-bit(ish) and choose from those. Maybe even be relentless with the new sound. It's great as a continuous rave, but I reckon it needs a bit of jushing(?) as a standalone. You got some really good drums going in there.Robert West wrote:I would have liked to have run some counter theme to the lead, but just didn't come up with anything that seemed to fit. I could have tried out some gated riffs for some added variation as well.

I decided last minute to put a track together as I like MauSynth
Here it is:
angelremington - return to OSC
http://soundcloud.com/georgeangelov/ang ... urn-to-osc
MauSynth 15 tracks, mostly stock presets with few tweaks for open hats, crash etc and modified attack on strings preset.
Only used Studio One stock effects: compression on master bus and kick, reverb on leads and boom-kick and crash, EQ on mater leads, bass and kick.
138bpm Am

Here it is nearly at the deadline. "Pmj rit - Sanguine Sojourn"
It was made as follows:
1) Host/DAW: SONAR X2a
2) 15 instances. Much doubling of parts too. All tweaked presets. Some much more than others. One of the lead sounds started out as Synth Strings.
3) Effects:
Marvel GEQ on the kick
TAL-Tube followed by KR-Reverb FS for the leads
KR-Reverb FS for the drums (except Kick which has no reverb).
Ambience Reverb for the pads
Automation of mix volumes (not the synths); Mau: cutoff, Amp Attack and filter Attack. Panning on the leads.
Thanks to all the other entrants. Some inspiring stuff. Please comment if you have time.
I found this synth good and quite stable. There are some aspects of the user interface which I dislike. The oscillator frequency controls are the very devil.
