Add/edit: Another thing about Kontakt. You could wait another year for them to discount it 50% like they did a month or so ago. 43GB of samples, although I haven't found as many of them as usable as I've found on ST2. The best libraries for kontakt are as much as kontakt itself.

Mach(x)& Halion?... don't forget to add the price of the ilok to it.
if you read my orginal post again, i believe i wrote if one is considering Kontakt they should just drop a few more dollars on Komplete... there is a sale going on at Guitar Center every single day i.e $75 off anything brought for over $400...

ilok is the cost of doing business... how do you know that Sampletank 3 is not going to have some type of hardware/dongle protection?

$69.99 for a VI of your choice.
3 more VI's free.
20+GB of samples/sounds
(And if you get it from esoundz you get another 3-4GB of samples/sounds.)

Who would be unhappy jumping on this deal?
to answer your question... ME!!!

i rather have the quality of the other products on the market than have the quantity of the Sampletank line up...

but will admit... if this was my first week of being a "producer" and was looking for sounds (on a budget)... the group buy is a no-brainer... but that is not the case for me!!
Well then, it's simple, if you're sure you won't be happy, don't take the leap.
Why try to convince others that have and are to become unhappy?

Do I like every sound? No, but that has more to do with my tastes than their quality, and I have nothing overly negative to say about the quality of samples.

For the price, I've found more samples I can use immediately without tweaking than I have in Kontakt, in fact, Kontakt is going to take some work. (Or money to buy better libraries.)

Don't exactly care for ST3 itself at this point anymore, but I sure would like to use my ST2 patches again with a browser that doesn't suck at much. +64bit

well in my case, its because i want to use what i've previously payed for and its already been stated ST2 wont get any more bugfixes.
if theres no free player i'll go back to nagging about that instead.. ;)

As the OP and thread title is simply about a countdown to the end of the year.

125 days.

I still use SampleTank and Miroslav on a regular basis. Thanks for letting me know they're obsolete! I'd better go back over my previous projects and make sure they still work.

Yes, Gotye and Lana Del Rey's people must have been very lucky in their "first weeks" when using these sounds of questionable quality on two worldwide #1 hits (and Gotye's folks using them live too)... ;)

Lana Del Rey - http://www.ikmultimedia.com/news-archiv ... hp?Id=3561 and http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/apr12/a ... t-0412.htm

Gotye - http://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/?item_id=2214

Don't discount these due to hearsay or bias, plus I also think the example I posted shows the quality of Miroslav Philharmonik quite well too.

@bbaggins - we sent them (and you) the memo to discontinue use of these, but we were told that "the use of your plugins on worldwide #1 hits cannot be taken back as it would tear a hole in the space-time continuum and we're quite enjoying the success of the songs whose sound and vibe your plugins helped shape" /obvious sarcasm

No! this is devastating news!! Also i would like to make a complaint(asslicker alert  ) about the speed of your support.I emailed them at 14:05 GMT today about my missimg jampoints and by 14:35 they replied and credited my account with the miising ones. In future i would appreciate a more lengthy reply to give me tiime to bitch and moan about the incompitance of support.

Hey I loves me some Sampletank....which is why I'm so interested in the next version. 64 bit support isn't the only thing ST3 will bring....I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping for a larger GUI and more user friendly interface since it's been a subject of debate for lo these many years. Of course I'm looking forward to new sounds and hopefully other features as well...(per layer Arp would make me very happy) and more synthesis features per layer.......

I'm hoping that some sort of Custom Shop model makes it's way into ST3 as well...I'd rather buy just the engine upgrade and then only the sounds I need.....don't need trombone or jazz guitar etc etc........ :)

For anybody who just looks at Sampletank as only a Rompler I think you're missing the point. To me it's a 16 layer sample based synth capable of sounds like the older Korg and Roland units (JV880, O3 R/W etc etc) and far beyond. Besides the usual Piano and Strings samples I'd love to see some more Sonic Synth stuff along the lines of the D-50 and M1......... :)

Peter IK Multimedia - first off, i would like to bring to your attention that this song by this artist was a number one hit too...

with that being said i cant remember that last album i brought and there was a number one hit on it. therefore, you examples mean nothing to me. the bottom line is preference is the key to what individuals use along side of their budget.i just happen to think if an individual had a $1000 laying around they would purchase other products on the market before considering the Sampletank line up. if an individual is working with only $70 then that Sampletank Group Buy is a Godsend!!!

again, i cant wait for the release of Sampletank 3 because "all" the questions will be answered then... right?

we will see the quality/quantity stack against other products... we will see how IK Multimedia treats its customer base... we will see the pricing structure... we will see about the number of bugs in Sampletank 3... we will see if IK Multimedia is going to fix simple things like the scrolling in the current version of Sampletank... there will be tons of questions answered on the release...

again, i cant wait!!!

before you say it... i know... i have no skills/talent... no need to waste you breathe... we have been here before!!

You funny...

It was simply a response to what seemed clearly a generalization that "first week 'producers'" would be interested in these products, not seasoned pros or whatever. To that, regardless of whether I personally buy #1 hits I can still point out that these are not simply entry-level products with low quality for beginners. After all, both examples clearly did have $1,000+ to spend but SampleTank-powered VIs were used...

SampleTank 3 will stand on its own, and SampleTank's current libraries still stand on their own (used from basement to multi million dollar studio and everywhere between daily) so I think that bodes well for what is coming, is all.

And as you say multiple times in your reply "we will see" :) I look forward to it and think you'll be happy as will many others.

Your join date shows April 28 of 2013 so maybe you don't know the back story.......

We built a new state-of-the-art studio to record the all new instrument library for SampleTank3.
So here we are almost 30 months later and there may have been references to ST3 even farther back (actually the original post in that thread at Sweetwater is dated 10-08-2008)......I don't think people are being too impatient.....

So if people are still counting down the days after all that time I'd say that's a very good thing......
