It was simply a response to what seemed clearly a generalization that "first week 'producers'" would be interested in these products, not seasoned pros or whatever. To that, regardless of whether I personally buy #1 hits I can still point out that these are not simply entry-level products with low quality for beginners. After all, both examples clearly did have $1,000+ to spend but SampleTank-powered VIs were used...

SampleTank 3 will stand on its own, and SampleTank's current libraries still stand on their own (used from basement to multi million dollar studio and everywhere between daily) so I think that bodes well for what is coming, is all.

And as you say multiple times in your reply "we will see" I look forward to it and think you'll be happy as will many others.

again, you do not have to sell me. i brought Sampletank in 11/12/2003. i remember when it was a CPU hog. when Sampletank 3 is released "we will see"... i just understand that the competition is pretty thick... and i cant wait!!!

will you go on the limb and say Sampletank 3 will be bug free? it is a rewrite right?

Hey I loves me some Sampletank....which is why I'm so interested in the next version. 64 bit support isn't the only thing ST3 will bring....I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping for a larger GUI and more user friendly interface since it's been a subject of debate for lo these many years. Of course I'm looking forward to new sounds and hopefully other features as well...(per layer Arp would make me very happy) and more synthesis features per layer.......

I'm hoping that some sort of Custom Shop model makes it's way into ST3 as well...I'd rather buy just the engine upgrade and then only the sounds I need.....don't need trombone or jazz guitar etc etc........

For anybody who just looks at Sampletank as only a Rompler I think you're missing the point. To me it's a 16 layer sample based synth capable of sounds like the older Korg and Roland units (JV880, O3 R/W etc etc) and far beyond. Besides the usual Piano and Strings samples I'd love to see some more Sonic Synth stuff along the lines of the D-50 and M1.........

Yes, I'm always hoping for larger GUIs on everything I own. And the red screen hurts my eyes a little, which causes me to think of SS2 to use first. But I can see right off the bat ST2 is quite the little powerhouse, so anything ST3 brings can only be better?

And the back story? That was then, this is now. Still interesting. I guess it was that I didn't really expect it to be as good as it is. I figured for 40 bucks, if STXL had 5-10 more sounds I liked, it was worth the price. I was enjoying St Free for only a couple of weeks before that sale happened. Maybe because my bar was set so low, it really keeps on surprising me. There are sounds on it that others don't do as well for my tastes. And other sounds I pull up just to practice with because of their playability. So no, I haven't had time enough to grow impatient, but I've been married three times and I've learned to take promises with no expectations of them actually happening.

I hope ST3 will have all (most) parameters automatable and I wish for a better sounding filter. New samples that utilize Round Robin. Quicker loading time (when you have gigs and gigs of sounds installed). I already have "refresh on startup" off on ST2 and it can take quite some time for ST2 to load with no patches the first time I load it in an FL Studio project (with no patch loaded in ST2). Keep in mind I have all of the sounds from the other IK Romplers in ST2 and own most of the Sonic Reality extra sounds. I hope we will still be able to customize the color and darkness of the UI, and I like the little picture that displays on the UI that shows me which library I loaded. I have been a fan of ST2 since day one and continue to be. Really looking forward to ST3.

I'm sure you've discovered by now as jethrobull said you can change the color in the full version of ST2....I've got mine set to a cool blue...easy on the eyes and quite similar to Sonic Synth 2.

And do you also know that you can use all your libraries in the Sampletank XL engine....no need to use Sonic Synth just to use those samples ?

On the very far right of ST (you may need a magnifying glass) there are 3 little knobs.Col,Lum & Sat. Give em a twist.

Well thank you very much! I feel the same way - disagreeing doesn't necessarily mean someone thinks any less of another person. At least that's the logical way one would think it SHOULD work. Enrich and grow and all that. There's also a lot of nuance to what people are saying, many times, too.

If only KVR served beer. I'm sure there would be many a clinking glass after a heated discussion!

Oh, and by the way there are also great tips making their way into the Group Buy thread in Market Place too. If anybody grabs them all and puts them into one list, PM me. Maybe I can post it somewhere "permanent" (at least it will be good for whatever number of days we are at in the countdown).
