Oh I understand, again I'll stand corrected but I want to be sure that people do understand so I'm hoping some others may chime in. That away everybody can be (roughly) on the same page.

Thanks Peter, I'll send this to you in a list as a pm.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:SampleTank 3 will be a great workstation, as SampleTank has been for years. I think my reply was fair to the statement that you made about our product being discontinued, I didn't say you couldn't express your opinions. Also, did you see where I pointed out that those iGrand Piano for iPad sounds were derived directly from SampleTank 3 sessions?
I think we're actually on the same page, but you should probably expect a bit of a reply when something as dramatic and decisive as "x should be discontinued" is made, is all. Can you please put your feature request list into a digestable form (a single list) and PM it to me? Thanks. I can't make guarantees but I can forward feature requests to the Product Manager.

A coment on Miroslav Philharmonik:
I don't know if this was pointed out earlier, but the Miroslav collection was originally a meticulously sampled monophonic set that sold for more than $3,000.00, just for the raw samples.
While it is true that recording techniques and sampling libraries in particular have benefited greatly from the vast improvement in technology over the years, Philharmonik still has its place. The fact that it can now be purchased (with up to date whiz-bang effects and processing power) for pennies on the dollar is a boon to musicians.
Now if I can only get it to run natively in x64...

Only making the point that it is amazing what you can do for pennies on the dollar and on the go, not rubbing it in that SampleTank 3 isn't out. That will be when it will run in a native 64-bit engine and hopefully there will be many more happy campers. And no, the people working on ST3 were not harmed or otherwise distracted from their hard work in any way by this sound set being released for iOS.

It's a good product, but I'm really grateful that free competition has brought the price down so that the regular ol' musician also can afford these sounds

i really enjoyed your rendition of my favorite thing...kodebode2 wrote:

the song my favorite thing is such a beautiful song that if you played it on anything it would sound good (i say this with no disrepect to you)... with that being said... i am looking for sounds that "inspire" music making in Sampletank 3...
again, all i know is the competition is thick and IK Multimedia biggest mistake is taking so long for Sampletank 3. yes, they have made a ton of money with the group buys but long term customers have found other products. if and only if the upgrade price is $99 for Sampletank 3 will i buy it. if not, i would rather add a few more dollars to that $99 and buy a kontakt powered library product i.e. build on something i already own and have invested in!!!

9 pages later, I still think that there's enough interest to warrant its release. But that's just my opinion

I think it's obvious....at least to those of us who own Sampletank...that it can easily surpass the sounds in that example with a minimal amount of effort and skill........Burillo wrote:i think it's obvious that that was exactly the pointTeksonik wrote:Hmmmm I don't hear any sounds in there that couldn't easily be created in Sampletank with a little creative programming. I can do this in Sampletank....in less than 2 minutes....kodebode2 wrote: Today I use a Roland XV sound module, and when I want an electric piano, I simply search for one and play, find the closest to what I hear in my head, and which fits the music I have in mind, and within 2 minutes I'm done with sound selection and I can focus on creating music.
And yet you've still spent far less than you would on a Kronos.....kodebode2 wrote:I invested in several versions of Kontakt from version 1 to 4 - its a hoax. hoping to find usable playable sounds. None. When does the buying spree end, probaly until you buy Kontakt libraries.

So you want IK to release a software instrument with 22.5 megs of samples?kodebode2 wrote:IK give me a "Yamaha S90" that can be well integrated in my DAW, with sounds that captivate my audience and I, and we can enjoy. - Plug and Play - no need to tweak, if I do not want to.

You will note that I substantiated my assertions with audio examples.Teksonik wrote:I think it's obvious....at least to those of us who own Sampletank...that it can easily surpass the sounds in that example with a minimal amount of effort and skill........Burillo wrote:i think it's obvious that that was exactly the pointTeksonik wrote:Hmmmm I don't hear any sounds in there that couldn't easily be created in Sampletank with a little creative programming. I'd like to hear your examples of music based on solo electric piano (unmasked by drums and other instruments), with similar tones to my example, using Sampletank alone.
Please prove it and publish a similar audio example using Sampletank 2 only (no expansion packs please), of a multipatch or combo if you prefer this term, based on no more than three single patches from ST2.
Hearing is believing...
This is also the fundamental challenge of virtual instruments which I have alluded to, earlier. The commercial model of software instruments is fraught with so much risk. In most cases where large good quality samples are the norm, depending on your circumstances, you can no longer audition them reliably, before you buy. Many years ago red brick music stores has kiosks with VI's, installed on PC's. The online commerce world has taken these stores out of business, where I live.
We are left with opinions on forums such as KVR, demos of uncertain pedigree by the software producer, endorsements by famous musicians and producers, and the most independent demos of are of uncertain quality and variety on Youtube.

In my case, buying VSTs is a much cheaper option (and the missus doesn't know)...
