Only thing I will restate: I would still like to not have to click points for tracks that would be "zero" points - e.g. only click to rate the tracks I want to give points (minimum 5 tracks).V'ger wrote:... after hearing views so what's your opinion of it so far?

Bjporter is looking at a fix for that, but with the current system that doesn't seem to be possible yet.

A fix for that may be to add a zero column as well which would be the default for every entry. The voter could then award points at their leisure to the entries they cared to vote on.z.prime wrote:Only thing I will restate: I would still like to not have to click points for tracks that would be "zero" points - e.g. only click to rate the tracks I want to give points (minimum 5 tracks).V'ger wrote:... after hearing views so what's your opinion of it so far?

-1 people might vote within the limited circle of songs they listened to.
Do we need to listen to every track to be able to vote ? I think yes, but Robert's solution raises the issue.

0 or 1 : who cares ? It is only the relative value of the added points that gives the final order. I think the new system gives me ( I do not know about others) a much greater motivation into listening carefully to all the entries . I have only been around for a few months and have not heard anything yet that was not worth at least one point . I have even been encouraged to appreciate and even like some music styles I do not generally care much for. The participants are not all equal in their compostion or sound design skills but they are all honest and committed : in my book , this deserves at least one point.

I don't think the Google forms we currently use can have it where one option (for example 0 or 1) as default so all songs have to be clicked to be scored.

Can you include javascript in the forms at all?V'ger wrote:I don't think the Google forms we currently use can have it where one option (for example 0 or 1) as default so all songs have to be clicked to be scored.

Hm no I don't think so.
But I soon want to start a poll on whether to keep this system or revert back to the old one, but would be ideal to have a 3rd option as well, so anyone with suggestions for that? For example rate top 10 like is done in the Music Cafe section here?

I'm very happy with the last mode. All tracks get votes. More fair.
The system in Music Cafe is maybe ok in Music Cafe only, as there are not usually 40 tracks (or even more) like here in OSC.
15-25 as much.
That system is still the same as the old one in OSC, only with +5 more to vote.
So i'm stacked to the new system.
Have a nice day

First I was not a fan of the new system. But now I find it more fair to everyone to give a rating for each track. I thought I will miss the comments, but I see that we give more comments on SC and so this compensates the issue.
So lets keep the actual system. Whatever system we take, we will not satisfy all members.

I did some testing. It works flawlessly on Wine and I like its sound and simplicity of programming. Just in case someone is considering to ... I would be in.

Hey Robert, I just took a look and the tunes seemed to be fine. Are you referring to these tunes here: https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/osc-21-chimera ?Robert West wrote:What happened to all of the tunes on the previous competition pages? All I see are the blank areas where they should be...

BJ, yeah, but for all of the monthly 1-synth challenges, the music is missing... well all the ones I tried. Except for the current one.bjporter wrote:Hey Robert, I just took a look and the tunes seemed to be fine.
