I'm a keyboard player (i. e. fretboard chord charts don't help me) and I want to improve my composition skills. Therefore I'm searching for books, tutorials and videos about composition (including melody and harmony).

Should be PRACTICAL informations like the book "Harmony for Computer Musicians" which I've already read, no academic essays...

Please do not spam this thread with music theory and endless discussions if Bb is the same as A#... (no, it isn't) I want to have only recommendations for books, tutorials, videos, websites, blogs etc. which helps me to get better in composition.

Thanks! :D

Just watched the (first) video sample - he's playing so fast that he is at the end of the song when I recognize a certain chord...

As many instances as there are here with this "question", you really felt you had to start a new thread. Wow.

Why don't you just link to them, then? ;)

Because I'm just not that servile? If there's space for a special thread for this guy when there's thread after thread already, and he could actually show a little consideration for the forum for once and search for his own self, I think allowing me space to point it out is the least YOU can do. :D

His own special thread with you around

Copy the link civet, you can be condescending next time somebody else asks.

I'm not talking down, I'm talking frankly. There is already a lot of this here and making a new thread seems selfish. I feel free to say it.

Piano with Willie is great btw. But it's main goal is to teach "how to play"

I hate to say it but.... Band in a box.

It doesn't matter how much musical knowledge you can store in your head. It only matters how well you can apply what you know through your performance. The only way to do that is to study in performance.

The sample songs for the styles are very reflective of the theory and composition techniques of those styles. If you aren't going to find a teacher who is going to break down songs and show the applied musical devices inherent and if you aren't going to apply yourself to learning standards which is the way most songwriters learn the craft of writing music (Along with other studies)
Then consider band in a box.

The study of an artist in particular can directly influence your performance and arrangement which can also directly affect how you write songs.

You come to my thread only to attack me, instead of helping?

Shame on you, really! If I had a chance to ban you, I would do it instantly. Your game is over!

And thanks to all people here at KVR who are really helping! There are so many great people that I should ignore this one person who tries to attack me every time, in every thread I make!
