weak.
I like the Marvin Gaye original. This is truly a weak thing to say, and it is a straw man. The success or obscurity of a thing is not in itself a criteria for me. This runs along the argumentum ad populum fallacy as well.

This one thing I remarked on is all I ever heard from this Robin Thicke, and he's evidently a great f**king poseur, inauthentic and half-baked, standing on the back of someone real. It's nakedly a rip-off. It's sad to see anyone falling for it. It's mimicry and acting, more than musicianship.

What i should have said was that i feel at KVR what most people think is music, is not what i think is music. That's precisely it.
id be interested in who the bile in your previous post was aimed at?
i like experimental stuff, i also occassionally will get in to threads about a particular pop act and may have a somewhat negative opinion of the act in question. however i also enjoy a fair bit of pop/commercial stuff, just dont get me started on coldplay, or it will get ugly... :hihi:
Coldplay are incredible. Amazing songs.

Bile? What difference is it to the "bile" you yourself aim at some commercial stuff? And let's see what you have to say about coldplay then LOL.
coldplay are indie for bank managers. insipid and lowest common denomination bedwetter music.
as for the difference in the bile i spout, at least people know who um talkig about :)
but, as you "rate" coldplay at all, your opinion on anything at all is irrelevant. i wouldnt even ask you which biscuits i should try.

+0.5

I'm not sure about "most people" because when there are 10 people posting in a thread with crappy experimental music and claiming how great this somebody were in composing, then 10 people out of 400,000 KVR members cannot be "most people". :?

But there are people whose music I cannot stand listening to longer than 5 seconds, and they get 30 praising posts, while other people who create great music that make me wanna jump & dance, only get 3 positive posts... :x

Oh good, common ground. More or less...

I kind of liked that 'Yellow'. I like melody and that has a helluva hook and it's kind of charming. I don't follow this kind of thing as a rule. I would hear it in the Safeway. I would reckon that's going to be their peak effort:

I remember when they first got so much notoriety they appeared on Jon Stewart's TV show. What a mess as a live band. It was ineptly written and pretentious at the same time and they came across as such hacks in terms of musicianship. This points out the actual value of actual producers in the process of making popular records. It's like certain writers (going into it tracks this to HPC) that really benefit from being edited.

I want things to be good. This was terrible.

This is precisely what the "bile" was aimed at. I couldn't come up with a better example if I tried. This is the kind of contempt and narcissism that creates cynics, both in the people who proclaim it and the people who listen to it.

it was also kind of a joke, i figured the biscuit comment would indicate it as such.
yes, i dont like coldplay, its true, but i wouldnt think any less of a person who does enjoy their music. its not like i think my music taste is the ultimate and that everyone should listen to the same stuff.

Mr Thicke nakedly ripping off Marvin Gaye, adding nothing, and this equally naked ploy for notoriety to push his records is cynical. Maybe a disrespect for eg., Coldplay is rooted in having different concerns regarding music than people that think it's 'amazing songs'. That's a matter of opinion. How does one person's opinion "create cynics"? :o

Sorry, it's just that I've seen more ridiculous things that are completely serious. I'm not usually this much of a righteous prude... The cynic comment wasn't because one person liked Coldplay and another didn't, it was because the disliker (ironically, my bad) made a character judgement and assumed their superiority based on that.

Post

I saw Vurt saying he wouldn't accept advice as per what biscuits from anyone that 'rates coldplay at all'.

What does 'cynic' mean? One who looks askance at people's motives, finding insincerity/expecting insincerity. So if anyone's 'creating cynics' it's Robin Thicke.

I think one can find their own problem with Coldplay and not question their sincerity. I also think that saying a strong dislike of coldplay indicates narcissism is the character judgement here. I guess you're invested a lot in coldplay?
